One thing I don't think I pointed out, I was kinda lookin' from a dj's perspective too, I wanna be able to get regular gigs in (for promotion as well as funding to fuel my vinyl addiction :P )

For a not so established artist would it be hard getting a slot anywhere? There's a lot of big names playin' which is good from a crowds point of view but will it make it harder for me to get booked?
when youve got nights like exodus who have exodus and jack sparrow as residents, ruffage who have Ramadanman, Pangae, Signus and Ben UFO as residents, Vaga Bondz who have Slugz, Ruckspin and Distinction down all the time at the bottom of the bill, its a very hard scene to break into. Just try to do something different and dont mix the same bate tunes and having a good amount of sick exclusives always helps your case or if you produce yourself that helps. Just dont come with what every dubstep dj has in his bag and expect to get booked just cus u can beat match (that is not a diss on you just the harsh reality as Leeds has such a healthy scene already). As apt pupil told me about getting booked in Leeds, dont rush it, get to know all the promoters first then do the mixtape of your life and hopefully someone will realize this boys GOT SKILLZ HE NEEDS A BOOKING, BOOK HIM NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah it's really hard to get "those tunes" it seems you need to know the producers to get "the tunes" to get "the bookings" but you will only get to know the producers by playing at "those gigs" in the first place :?

seems frustrating as you say being able to beatmatch aint an issue, it's my record bag that's gonna be the limiting factor here

Nottingham has a scene, but for the size of the city and the gap between the big promoters and the ones on a budget is massive. Also good venues are few and far between in Nottingham and this year its guna have something between 10 and 13 dubstep nights, which for the size of the scene there is ridiculous. For instance take the last Exodus vs Misst at the Garvey, Hatcha, Kromestar, RSD, Pinch, Exodus and Oris Jay the turnout was quite honestly pathetic for a night of that scale. That line up and the night itself was sick, but nottingham does itself no favors by a lot of people being attracted by the safety net of big corporate clubs and commercial line ups.
This^^^

Nottingham has Venues and Promoters such as Rock City and Detonate that bag up all artists on exclusivity deals and don't give the up and coming promoters much chance. Hold tight all those putting in the work and booking the exciting new artists before the big boys snap them up! Nottingham has been and continues to be a hard city to motivate people to move away from the bigger clubs.

I can only speak for Liverpool, but the scene while it's young, I reckon will be good in the coming year or two. My mate's club night DORSIA is playing a lot of dubstep, hopefully get a set there soon. Quite a few decent names have played, but still absolutely nothing on LDN/Notts/Leeds etc.

Leeds city is the one my friend. I've never been so busy in my life since I moved here. Music scene is thriving and has it's own underground music radio station Radio Frequency. www.radiofrequencyfm.co.uk

Good thing is coz Exodus and Subdub happen you get to hear people like goth trad, heny g, silkie & kromestar amongst a load of other dubstep djs who have made guest appearances on the station. Always nice to have good tunes on your fm dial

As someone who has experience nights in boths cities, there's no question really. Leeds takes it hands down.

Only Bristol & London offer more variety

As steppa pointed out, all the nights have top guys as residents. This is the foundations for a decent night imo

way to miss the point BRO

Notts has 1 pure Dubstep night.
1 DNB night with a dubstep room.

and a coupla other nights which arn't bothered with the D*****p tag, and are generally a more fun rave.

seriously man stfu. Misst dubstep, Basslaced dubstep, rubberdub jungle sometimes but very usually headline dubstep room, Detonate dubstep room, Ragga puffin jungle and dubstep, Flux sessions lighter side of dubstep, Futureproof are an experimental dubstep night, Dub Weight 100% dubstep, Tektonik mostly dubstep with some drum and bass. Dont tell me about my city. YOU OBVIOUSLY DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT HENCE YOUR COMMENT ABOVE.

All you wana talk about on this forum is the future and about funky and this future garage nonsense all the bloody time, every day i log onto this forum and theres you telling me how funkys amazing and how garage is still alive, YOU PISS ME OFF SO FUCKING MUCH. JUST STFU I DONT CARE ABOUT SEEING METAPHI LIVE FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME IN NOTTINGHAM, SEEING GEIOM FOR LIKE THE 12th TIME IN A YEAR IN ONE CITY (btw both are sick artists but you can only see them so many times b4 it looses novelty). NOTTINGHAM HAS A FUKIN STRONG DUBSTEP COMMUNITY AND THATS 100% DUBSTEP.
