I've got an Urei 1601 too, which I love, but UPGRADE from a Rane57? I love those badboys (not into Serato though). I reckon keep your mixer and spend your cash on wax bro

Urei 1603, its an absolute animal.

Amazing sound quality, top eq's and the faders aint half bad either.

Im repping a Xone 92 at the min and I can't see me every switching in all honesty.

A MASSIVE fan of having 4 EQ's, really good with dubstep (ie being able to keep a b-line with out sub getting in the way of the other track). Also the Filters are possible the greatest addition to any mixer... ever! Swapping the lows never felt so right!

Can't say Im a fan of Pioneers, feel their EQ's are way to chunky, sturdier than Xone mixers definitely but they just don't sound as sweet

i was gonna upgrade from the technics 1200 scratch mixer to the pioneer jdm800, but i ended up getting the djm600 instead was £630 and the djm800 was bout £1100 n i didn't think it was worth paying nearly double for the little more it offered.

i bought ecler nuo 5 was horrible adn swapped it for xone 62, proper mixer..

exactly, I came from the 07 with a Pro X Fade in as well... bought it used cheaper than I originally bought my 07 for - also used. unfortunately I couldnt move the Pro X fader to the PMC 37 due to the crossfader running on a different electrical resistance.

best addition for mixing electronic music is the channel assign, you can have same input on all three channels, and bass, mids and highs separated on each fader or having a dedicated 'bass channel' to quickly shift between the basslines back and forth on two different tracks..

the filters are of the original filtertype, not lowpass or highpass. I think it is the same as the middle one on Allen & Heath mixers.

only thing it needs is a fader between master and cue in headphones, but you can work your way around it using split and gain.

I noticed that, it doesn't look like the filters I had in mind. Still a cool mixer. I would defo like a HP and LP and whatever else they would like to add. Freq and Reso.

I second a couple of people on here in that Vestax are a good, solid option, especially on a budget:

however!

if you have the money, do what i did and buy an ECLER!!!!!!

you will not be disapointed, makes mixing feel like sex, built like a brick W.C., excellent sound, plus I have the Nuo 5 and the effect processor on it (in particular the genius of the wet/dry crossfader) means I can use the inbuilt effects with as good results as when i use my kaoss KP3!

Avoid Pioneer and Allen and Heaths (in my opinion) the EQ's are just way wrong, when ever I've mixed on them they cut out too much bass, the mid seems to jump around and they never have seemed to have a smooth transtion all the way round the pot. (i.e. you get to near the "kill" section and nothing more happens/ it jumps to "kill"

I'm using a Vestax at the moment



I like it well enough but I was playing mostly hip hop when I first bought it... the little faders for the eq are not as easy to finesse as dials for longer rinses...
although it is kind of cool having them all in a line like that as you can manipulate all three at once without being an octopus... the matrix assign feature is cool as well, especially when I plug in a delay peddle to the effects input.

I'm leaning towards a Rane empath for my next upgrade. Super rugged, great sound quality, 3 channels, smooth, clean eqs, nice faders... everyone jocks the pioneer 800 but it seems like an overgrown effects box to me... never used an Allen an Heath but most people I've spoken with say they don't like the faders and that the 4-band eq is overkill.
