Everyone's super secretive about their production techniques so I don't know how successful that would be.
Voted keep it like this for now, for what that's worth coming from a total nub

I think that an announcements section would be good - keep the forum for chat and have a section for announcements sections for nights/radio etc...

yeah... i don't see any reason to split, save the announcements ting.
what was the reason for this idea again?!

structure should look like this:
1. General chat
2. Events, reports and photos
3. Downloads (mixes)
4. Production, hardware and DJing

I think splitting the forum is less important than moving it to a proper host, so that you can maintain the database, get rid of the fucking ads and frames, and customise the forum more.
I have a server, and I'm willing to foot the bandwidth bills and help technically/visually...
you've probably had similar offers before!
My original point still stands though- forumsplace is a bit lo-fi for such a far-reaching online community.

done.
why?
i don't see how this can do any demage to general dubstep forum, and maybe it could help newcomers and encourage more ppl to make dubstep.
we'll see how it goes.
btw, there will be no more sections.

I kind of liked the chaotic feel of just having one section (and I mean "chaos" in a good way). I think people are more apt to read more threads when they are all in one place. I know that when I visit the forum, I usually just click "View posts since last visit", and go from there. Of course this could easily get out of hand if the forum starts doing thousands and thousands of posts a day. At that point, there probably won't be much choice but to split it up. I don't think we're quite there yet though.
When the forum moves to another server, will we be able to migrate the threads? I'm guessing that forumsplace doesn't allow that.

i agree 100%
but maybe with production section it's a bit different.. cos
A) half ppl is not interested in production at all..
B) the other half (producers etc.) will find it very handy to have all tips and advices on one place so they can easley find when they need something..
C) a lot of production topics just go in history cos they is so much new topics every day that they don't even get a chance to develop.. and production topic is not something that you will read onece and forget it..
i give them a chance.. we'll see what will happen..
i don't think that general dubstep chat will miss these topics - cos there were only a few of them and they weren't big... so - no damege will be done.. the worst thing that could happen is that production forum will not be live at all - but hey! - is it live now?

i think the solution is a good idea, sticky on the main forum..
