Preferably want something that can play big deep low bass frequencies, but I realise I'm not going to get fantastic sound without a proper set up, that doesn't matter.

So basically, what are the best speakers for about 30 quid? Will these suffice; http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-X-230- ... 740&sr=1-1

YES YES YES. I have those speakers and the bass is fucking incredible. Buy them. Dont think about it. Buy them. Trust me.

BUY THEM

This. Mine blew recently.

Yeah, I made an equalizer preset because of my bass greed. They are sterling pieces of kit though, especially when you can get them for £30.

These are the best active computer speakers EVER. They are well made and sound great. I even used them in the small cinema, with the dvd+projector setup and you could never tell sound was coming from these lovely little things. Yeah, I realise they are beyond your budget, but trust me, they will last you long time.

I like my music in good, old stereo. I don't use the above anymore, got them when I was away and didn't have my proper system with me, but still strongly recommend.

Well, you can get some Bose over the ear headphones (ones without noise cancellation). Saw a review for them when one man was playing hip hop on them for a year and still sound the same from when he bought them. They are a bit expensive but on a price to quality/longevity ratio, i think they're the way to go. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... merreviews

This shit will knock the photos off your next-door neighbours walls.

EDIT: I know it says cheap speakers but i thought i'd take the chance to be a slight big head.
I have the one down from that with wireless rears... it's a fucking monster. I don't use it that much for music now because I have my Tannoys, but if you ever want something to test sublines it rules.

My neighbours HATE it.

Your poor bugger, I had about 2Ks worth of peavy gear in my house when I bought hyperdub 01 (when it came out), would want to listen to anything on anything less!
