it's just people missed the main part of "you're entitled to your opinion, but that's not gonna change reality any bit"

I was talking about we agreeing on each others opinions.alien pimp wrote:you make it sound like it's a matter of opinion, it's happening, you can touch it, what's to agree on?NilsFG wrote:And the possibility is there that we will never, ever, agree on things like this. But that's probably just a part of our lives, just like piano is a part of Hancock's life.

yep.hurlingdervish wrote:the danger, people are missing, isn't that "abnormal" people will be investigated
its that they can decide what "abnormal" means.
lots of innocent people will be affected by this

Do you not value your privacy?
How about you post the last ten emails you received for all of us to read?
It's not that I don't value my privacy, I just understand that getting indignant on an internet forum won't really solve anything.baron_von_carlton wrote: Do you not value your privacy?
so it's logical to switch perspective from "i don't fucking care, i have nothing to hide" to "i care, but that's happening since decades and there's nothing new about it" ?feral witchchild wrote:It's not that I don't value my privacy, I just understand that getting indignant on an internet forum won't really solve anything.baron_von_carlton wrote: Do you not value your privacy?
Besides, this is nothing new, data mining has been practiced out here for likely...close to a decade now, I'd guess.
What do you think they collect all that info for? to NOT analyze it somehow? lawl
The fact that they're straight up admitting now that they're doing this kind of shit should come as no surprise. I mean, for fuck's sake, this is the UK we're talking about.
Some of you need to think about this a bit more logically, do you really think that any of us on here are even blips on the radar of law enforcement/intelligence agencies?
I know that dude Parson might like to think he is (though I actually do agree with him on certain things), but come on now.
That's the thing, though, I mean, it bothers me on a moral level because I think everyone's privacy should be respected but on a practical level I don't think of it as such a big deal because I don't know many potential terrorists, or major drug smugglers...nor am I either of these things myself, so why would it matter to me if my activities on the internet are being monitored? The implications of any state defining what is "abnormal" are a bit sinister of course, but they're not gonna waste valuable resources going after typical druggies or conspiracy nuts. I will seriously post a video of myself eating glass if they take it any further than trying to go after potential terrorists/drug smugglers.alien pimp wrote:
