I ended up here via Google, trying to get an id for a track I heard in a recorded set on dubstep.fm. I checked out all the track mentioned in this thread, and Bar 9 Strung out is pretty similar to the track I'm trying to find. The vibe, the sound of the violins and and the pace are pretty much the same, but the violin riff is different. The best description I can give of the violin theme is that it somewhat reminds me of the intro theme for the Poirot TV series

Does anyone know what track I could possibly be talking of? Any help would be much appreciated!

can you tell me what show it was on dubstep.fm? do you remember the show name and air date?

if you can remember this it will be a breeze to track down what tune your lookin for =]

I do believe it was one Supernormous session, with EMU (and a few others) guesting. I also believe that it was EMU playing at the time, and the tune came right after a small intermission with the hosts talking rambling about what they drank, and that they were getting pissed

I did think the date said February 2009, but I can't find a track title that is similar in the archive on dubstep.fm from that period of time. I went through all pages in the archive (in case my recollection of the date was wrong), and I found one entry that could be the show I heard:
12.12.2008 - Supernormous Smoke Sessions w/ Guest EMU

But the title when I listened yesterday included more name, possibly some "Kent Whiskey" or similar as well, and I can't see that anywhere in the archive listings. So I guess there's a difference between what the title is in the archive listings, and what it is when played.

Don't know if that gave you anything to go on, but I hope so. I really appreciate the help

There is no Violin in that track. The track at ~2:53 has many indian instruments including tabla, sitar, zither and possibly a sarangi which is a bowed instrument like a violin.
I have no idea what the track is though.
