I did the exact same thing last year. I'd definately not reccomend staying in Vancouver, waaaay too expensive. We stayed there a week and rinsed so much money!

Yea check out Kelowna, we only stayed one night there but it was one of the best nights out of our whole trip (we were in Canada for 6 months). We stayed in Fernie which is about 6 hours from Calgary - it was really nice and its a 'real' town as in it would probably be better to stay there long term than go there on a holiday.

Other resorts to check out are Lake Louise near Banff - there's about 3 resorts there, I've only been to the one owned by RCR but Banff itself is a really beautiful little town. If you go later in the season they have a castle made from ice on Lake Louise itself and the whole place is really spectacluar.

We also went to Kimberley which wasn't so great. Big White is supposed to be awesome (nearer Vancouver than Alberta), basically what we found was as long as it's snowed everywhere in Canada is great for boarding but it can get a bit bare if its not a great season.

Have fun, it was exactly a year tomorrow that we flew out, wish I was going again :D

sweeeet :D good luck!

i had my work visa and new job for van all sorted last feb and the company pulled out last min after booked the flight :( grrrr... but it's all good cos now i'm heading to san diego and gonna be popping up there during the season and i'm even being paid to fly to colorado for "work"!!

cypress is good for a local mountain (grouse is great on some tues nights i think it is - if you donate 5 tins of food you can board for free before the floodlights get switched on the slopes for the night boarding) - but if ur up in whistler ur gonna have a corker anyway! try and get a free lift pass with ur job cos it costs a blinkin fortune compared to europe

when i was last out there, i remember the mission getting from whistler to blackcombe and saying "goddamit - why dont they just string a cable between the two blinkin peaks".... everyone took the piss out of me all day for it and whatdyyyaa know?! they bloody did it!!

check out with djs cure and bias for vancouverstep nights and have an awesome time - vancouver is one seriously shweeet city. i love the place! vancouver island is also wicked for change of pace
