come on guys...
dubstep is like... soooo big on the hype machine yah?
Have you heard the screamer remix of La Roux?
You guys need to get to know about this guy called Burials. I read about him in the weekend section of the Guardian.
Apparently Roy Orbison is making dubstep too...

To be honest though I'm more concerned about the fact that some time in the future ketamine could ruin dubstep.

Dubstep will never be part of the mainstream. Sure there may be dubstep influenced tracks but it won't be full fledged dubstep...
This is because real dubstep (whatever form of it you consider to be real dubstep) is either to dark, percussive, minimal, abrasive, aggressive, (or whatever other term you want) for the general public to handle, in the US at least. I feel this goes for DnB as well, (the day I hear some popstar vocalizing shit over a hard-hitting neuro tune will be the day I'll hang-up my headphones.) When I started out listening to dubstep, trying to learn to produce it and mix it, living it and breathing it, I learned that the number one thing that defines dubstep (or what it was when it was born) was the not melodies, not the rhythms (though they certainly help the genre along), not the way the bass wobbles but yet the sub-bass itself. I've grown to accustomed to showing my productions to one of my friends who listens mostly to the mainstream and getting one of two responses: 1.) "Where's the words? It needs words." 2.) "That's some pretty fuckin' raw rap beats".
Dubstep will never be accepted into the pop scene because mainstream producers don't understand the soul behind the production we do, they are just looking for a fast buck, even the rap scene has seemed to lost sight of what it used to be about, with few exceptions, having said that I've noticed most hip-hop productions cannot stand on there own without lyrics dropped over them, because that it what people pay attention to most. Even if dubstep is let in it will be misinterpreted for being a new style of hip-hop... and let's not get started on all the over compression...
For now I really think pop has enough to chew on while it further explores what house and trance can do for it, with no thanks to people like Lady Gaga and Pitbull for providing a rather unhealthy injection of it into todays pop. Again, I'm mostly talking about the US, because I don't know how it is elsewhere.
/my rant on the subject

Only a few songs. Very few pop/rap albums these days have only one producer.

I've heard the tracks and it sounds influenced by dubstep but it isn't dubstep. Mad House being used doesn't count either, they recycled that.
and just cause it's produced by them doesn't mean anything... C&S kinda suck, when it comes to dubstep, they're much better dnb producers...

Absolutely great idea, then we can all just sit infront of the tv watching the top 40 listening to the same 40 tracks that everyone else in the world is listening to

first tune is not bad at all. ive heard this dropped in many sets and it added variation and kept the mix flowing. if you have banger after banger, it gets annoying in my opionion.
big up nilow. beautiful tune!

is this the first thing that comes to mind as variation to 'banger after banger'?
deep, future garage, wobbly, bro, what-have-you dubstep is what holds this scene up. this is our variety and flavor along with whatever new shit comes in the future and it's just based on the individual artists' sounds anyway isn't it. but where the fuck does top-40 become an important element to our scene? it's whatever of course, i'm not tripping off anything, all styles and all people are welcome for sure. but complete ignorance like 'oh this new top-40-pop-remix is chill i didn't know there was chill dubstep this man's an originator' is 100% waste.
edit: i can see you joined in 2007 so you're safe the way you stated that threw me off but i still stand by my comment on the general tip. guess all i'm really saying is i personally hope never to see the day where there's pop-future garage, pop-deep, pop-bro, pop-this, and pop-that, smeared all over everything. and making it a muck-wading experience to get good music and see good shows.
