Whenever I don't get my daily dose of caffeine I can get moody, extremely tired, etc.

Really bad for my age but I don't care, it tastes good.
Yeah my mum is addicted to caffiene and doesn't realise it, has about 15-20 cups of tea a day. Most people get addicted to caffiene without realising these days just from ingesting fuck loads of the stuff in various forms on a daily basis, but mainly from energy drinks, coffee and coke.

I'm not so addicted anymore but if I do buy pop it's either Coke or Orange Crush. I refuse to buy pepsi...inferior product

and we have substitutes over here called RC Cola, No Name Cola, and President's Choice Cola. they nowhere near Coke but if I don't wanna spend the extra dollar I'll go for those.

But nothing beats my grandma's addiction. Drank Coke everyday since the 20s or 30s and drank it til 2004 when she died. always had a 24 in the pantry. THAT'S addiction

Can't stand the stuff anymore unless there's a vodka in it. Don't drink any fizzy drinks anymore, unless it's used as a mixer. Makes my teeth feel furry :?

Cola used to make me loopy as a child. Like properly uncontainably nuts!

I'd agree with that. If science somehow made it so you could get all your nutrients and shit in some magic pill and never needed food again, I'd be upset. Tucking in to a decent takeaway is just as pleasurable as mdma. I'm not saying you should munch on a double cheeseburger inna middle of FWD instead of doing other things, but still. Food & Drink = Best things ever.

I'm doubtful that someone can die from Big Mac withdrawal. Link?

very true. And what about diet coke eh? With the silent killer substance in there.

The best public info on fast food being addictive is the film 'super size me'

My brother used to drink similar amounts of coke. Then he had to give it up coz it was contributing to his migraines.

Have you ever wondered why Coke comes with a smile? It’s because it gets you high. They took the cocaine out almost a hundred years ago. You know why? It was redundant.

* In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don’t immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down.
* 20 minutes: Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can get its hands on into fat. (There’s plenty of that at this particular moment)
* 40 minutes: Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness.
* 45 minutes: Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.
* >60 minutes: The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism. This is compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium.
* >60 Minutes: The caffeine’s diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee.) It is now assured that you’ll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water.
* >60 minutes: As the rave inside of you dies down you’ll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You’ve also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in the Coke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like even having the ability to hydrate your system or build strong bones and teeth.

This will all be followed by a caffeine crash in the next few hours. (As little as two if you’re a smoker.) But, hey, have another Coke, it’ll make you feel better.

And that's why it's the best drink ever.
I only ever drink fizzy drinks with takeaways, otherwise it's all about orange squash, but not that double concentrate shit though as if you put in one drop too much your drink goes from being weak to super fucking strong. All about 2 litres of robinsons orange squash from home bargains for just over a quid 8)

There has been a lot of speculation about the effect of Coca Cola on the human stomach. There were those that said that the popular beverage could literally cause our intestines to melt if we drink to much of the stuff. Coca Cola always denied the rumors and said that their product is no worse than other soft drinks on the market and there was no official proof of the “dissolving effect“.

So a bunch of guys decided to conduct their own experiment and find out if the rumors are true. They just took a piece of red meat, put it in a plate and poured some Coca Cola over it. They left it there for two days and took some photos throughout their experiment. The Coke didn’t completely dissolve the meat but you can see that it doesn’t look like anything you’d like to have inside your body. And the smell was unbearable.

I’m sure pretty much everyone knew that Coca Cola wasn’t the healthiest drink on the market, but I for one didn’t think it could do that to flesh. No more Coke for me!

If I had kids they can drink squash like me, fuck spending lavish amounts of money on caffiene and sugar.
Also, that argument about coca cola doing that to meat... Gastric juice is around pH 1, much stronger than coke. That shit all gets neutralised before it passes in to your small intestine too. I'm not vindicating coke, but it's a bit of a stupid argument.

and when you think you need a license to drive but not to make kids...

do you know what excess of gastric juice does to your stomach?
do you think the human body was built to cope with the shit in coke just as well?
i'd reconsider the word "stupid" if i were you
