Traktor Scratch Pro or Serato Scratch Live?

Personally I prefer traktor
Seratos ui is weird to me

I dont know where any of you gig out....but i regularly play out in NYC, Philly, Miami (WMC), LA, Belguim (once), everywhere in between, and here in Boston....and Traktor is overtaking Serato as the Industry standard....better timecode....better EFX....better beatgridding....the whole 9 yards....the Audio 8 interface is untouched....and the 4 decks is the most versitile of any of the DVS systems....and its unbelivably stable ....and if your gripe is that the waveforms dont run next to each other so you can see your beatmatch....then your trying to be a dj for the wrong reasons.... buy a set of 1200s....learn to beatmatch, analog style....then go out and buy your toys....cause if your going to rely on a DVS to do all the work for you...then your seriously in for a wake up call...cause your software will not do all the work for you...unless you put in work...aka....beatgriding all your tracks...setting all the BPMs correctly....key locking...etc etc, and even then your taking away from the "DVS" part of it ....cause if you want the software to beatmatch for you...then you arent using the "vinyl" part of it ...your doing it all internally...cause isnt that the reason you want to buy a DVS? for the vinyl control over your digital music?

so IMO ...put in work....learn to be a real dj .... and continue from there to expand your knowledge of music and reap all the benifits...look im not trying to come of as a dick, or a Traktor slut....its just that ive used all the softwares, all the hardware, and almost every piece of equipment out there....i have a bachelors in Audio Production, and have worked in the Audio Production field for a long time.

I run my Traktor Scratch Pro using timecode either off my 1200s or my Cdj 1000s and run the 2 virtual decks rewired to Ableton for live PA type stuff...i use the Audio 8 not only for Traktor but for my MIDI interface to my keyboard as well....try running serato with 2 decks running...6 EFX patches(running)....rewired to Live with 4 tracks of drums(or anything for that matter) running, and Massive loaded....let alone Live also rewired to Reason....see how long your Serato will be stable for then(or your computer for that matter) .... then get back to me....

ive used FS for years but i think serato is the way forward

serato & ableton are working together at the moment, that's a good enough reason to go with serato imho

I was stating he facts....ableton works with traktor as well man...and no they don't so the same thing...but to each his own...have fun ...that's all that matters anyway ....

I was asking myself this same question. I ended up getting Traktor Scratch about two weeks ago and to be honest I have not had a single problem with it (it runs great on my PC with Vista). I don't see what all the fuss about Serato is about, it is WAY to basic for what you get, but hey to each their own. You can already use Ableton "with" Serato or Traktor as it is now, just no rewire or streaming audio. With Traktor's interface you get better sound than the SL-1 (unless you want to pay $700 for JUST an SL-3 ) and with the software you get A LOT more useful features.

werd to that, they've been talking bout that FOREVER. you can still run decks through live by routing through your interface. slaving even works within live. i'm interested in seeing how they manage master tempo in that hydrid...that's one major win for playing on decks.


but yeah, the audio dj 8 interface by NI is super dope. if anybody is running usb, use this interface regardless of DVS.

The thing that seals the deal for me is the various traktor scratch certified mixers, yeah its just a dumb incentive to buy certain mixers but the cheap traktor upgrade, and lack of a bunch of extra cables is nice.

Torq in the studio but, Serato when i play out. Also you could take the easy way and use Ableton and a controller.
