This argument always makes me wary. "We need more people with one eye and webbed feet working in the mines." Do they have to wear special wellies and a safety goggle patch to be able to adapt?

There ARE women producers and DJ's out there, but some of the them don't make being a woman an issue, that's why you don't know about all of em. The rest, well they don't make it an issue either, its just you happen to see pics of em and therefore can work out their gender. The real issues are -

Can you hype a crowd, can you mix, can you make good music.

And if you're a monkey that can do all three, you'll have marmosets feeding you Lychees in no time.

I thought one of the main aims of modern journalism was to use any excuse to advance your particular agenda and career under the guise of righting wrongs.

Does any woman trust blokes that put forward misandrist, feminist opiinions, or do they just look at it as an underhand way of getting laid? Most women I know generally think the latter.
Don't you mean writing wrongs.

I see what you did there, very clever indeed. I hope you're feeling proud of yourself for that. Maybe you should e-mail it to ma and pa Metalboxproducts to show them just how clever you are and they can print it off and stick it over the mantlepiece next to that other photo of your other acheivement - Metalbox Jr's first poopie pic.

You might think it's "hip" and "cool" to post such detritus on the forum, but personally I find it rather sad and childish and I suggest you go away and have a good think about what you've done and the consequences of said action.

Sorry, I think I was possessed by a Victorian patriarch just then.

In response to Corpsey, I did post it up on the forum a week or two ago mate, I'm just being greedy and wanting more people to read it.

As for someone saying it is too big, yeah it probably is, don't want to end up like Scorsesee making 4 hour movies. But personally I think there is a need for big articles like that in Music journalism (after all, it's no bigger than the pitchfork articles). Is it too long/ unsuitable for the forum? Maybe, but where else am I going to put it

Women just aren't into making electronic music period. The desire within them just doesn't exist and its that simple. They do however like to strum their guitars and yodel. Even women that venture into the electronic music sphere always end up yodelling over their music. I think its very rare for women to just say to themselves one day 'I want to get into some unique, interesting and obscure new music'. In short its not in their make up. And the majority of women who get into any form of electronic music do it usually because they've been heavily influenced by a man. They'll always be listeners at best and rarely promoters or producers. Girls like ballads, love songs and other stuff. They're yearning for the dream of being carried away by Prince Charming. Aggro bass heavy music doesn't have quite the same meaning to you or I as some pop ballad does to the opposite sex.

DRUG DEALING, PROSTITUTION, AND ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOUR by anyone for anyone will no longer be tolerated in the Botanic Avenue, Holylands, Stranmillis Road areas.

ANYONE who is caught engaging in this activity will be met with fierce opposition by the good people of this community.

Don't know about you but seeing I'm these posters everywhere (even in obscure suburbs) and they scare me a bit (does laughing in the street warrant as antisocial behaviour). But trust me, I am not slagging off people who reside outside of the fine city of Belfast. Your commentary about Boxcutter playing out a couple of times: Yeah, I wrote that article before I knew that and believe me it depressed me that I missed out on those gigs. I'm not really sure which version of the article you read, but on the original forum post of a week back the Diston.org boys made me aware of my mistakes and I corrected them in later posts.

Tell the truth though, Barry Lynn has released an album on Planet Mu, he's been mentioned in the Sunday Times (if you want I can email the article to you, he was highly praised in it), and he hasn't had the exposure here that he should have. I mean, what about top billing on Shine? Makes sense to me.

I totally agree with you there and I hate that. Girls in general get paid far more attention than their male counterparts and they get more gigs too! I think its bad because it makes them believe that they're much better than they are. However that doesn't excuse my natural interest in the opposite sex but I would only consider putting on a girl if her music genuinely connects with me. And hand on heart I can only think of one female artist, that I know, who is amazingly talented and her music shits on the majority of male's music. She doesn't do dubstep but lush electronics and genuinely I can say she's probably the best female producer I've ever heard.

i'm loathe to even post on this thread there's so much dull/crap stuff being posted (listen to rachel and stfu), but: just to say, i didn't mean that comment bad-mindedly, and the issue isn't length per se, i should've made that clearer. it's about what you're writing about - i don't need to know what time you arrived at the venue or how drunk you got.

lol at comparing that review to blackdown's pitchfork column. slow down man.

haha you weirdo.

you must know some right sad girls.

http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=11453

girls can promote believe me.

I do have to say tho, I think there are nuff girls who only dj to get attention etc. I must state I am not one of these. These are the kind of girls that go round bumping the fact that they are female. Example...people that say stuff like "big up all female artists!".

So what if your female...its about what you play, how you play it etc.

If anything I work harder to show what Im about. I spend a lot of money on cutting tunes, cos I dont just wanna play whats been released (and sorry I hate cds). I like putting music out there that i think is badass and giving it exposure. And, also how does it make me different to just play everything thats released.

I dont produce tho, cos I simply dont have the time, and to be honest Im a better dj than I would be producer, so Ill just work harder at what I do. I know what i love and there is no way I could produce to that standard. Ive had a go...and nar.

Lol, rant over, not that this was a rant.

Pasta time

wtf??????????????

Try saying that to someone like DJ Rap or Shystie and you'll probably get beaten up a "ballad-lover", standard! lol :D
