Here's an interesting graph that charts areas of high BNP (British National Party) support alongside areas of densely populated by ethnic groups. Interestingly the two rarely coincide.
What isn't very clear is what portion of smaller communities are of ethnic backgrounds other than white British - it just suggests that numerically the communities are small but what are we supposed to make of small towns and villages with high BNP support? Is it alright to assume that there's barely a brown face in sight?

I was in a Burger King near where I live (in London) earlier and realised that even though it was packed, me and a friend were the only ones speaking English. I thought that was fucking cool, I really did

indeed - i think it shows that paranoia mostly induced by media hype is more powerful than people actually trying to view their localities for themselves.
pretty sad really to think that if the media changed their agenda everyone could potentially get along alot better

Well BNP members are mainly country, they see all this racist stuff on TV but they havent been introduced to a foreign person, so they beleave all the hype the BNP shove down there mouth. And ofcourse alot of people are voting for them due to the faith they are loosing in the current goverment. Cameron, Brown and Blair aint very good now are they. It's a shame realy that ower country has gone to shit and people are thinking a racist party is the only way, add to the fact some of the people supporting them aint racist themselve's, we need another prime minister like Churchill to come along again, or this country will realy go to shit.

Whats wrong with expecting people to the learn the language of the country they live it? If i moved to Italy i would expect to have to learn Italian.

This. As an immigrant of chinese racial origin. And I go a step further to say that they should at least learn about or engage in the culture of the country that they have immigrated to. It's stupid to go live in another country yet seclude oneself only amongst one's own imported culture. Also, it's rather rude.

That is true, and of course we expect people to be "ok" with the general state of Britain if they're choosing to move here... but it shouldn't be forgotten that what makes a place like London so exciting is the, at times slightly uneasy, clash of cultures... it's led to some great progress in liberty and art. It'd be rather boring if everyone fitted
too well.

No argument there, they shouldn't of course abandon their original cultures completely. The thing is, you need to at least attempt to mix with other cultural groups to have a chance of bringing about a meeting of cultures. But that, sadly, just doesn't happen often enough, at least amongst first generation immigrants. More often than not, it takes the second (and sometimes even the third) generation before some degree of natural integration happens. By that point you're looking at 20-40 years of segragation of a particular community which is more than enough time for it to develop its own identity, separate from both country of origin and UK. In practice, because of continuous influx into a given community, this segregation can carry on indefinitely. And all the while, this community can speak decent English yet stand completely apart from the communities around it (to tie back into the thread).
and of course we expect people to be "ok" with the general state of Britain if they're choosing to move here
Just want to home in on this particular bit because it's something that really does my nut in. You'd think this assumption to be correct, but more often than not, it isn't. Soooooo many immigrants complain non-stop about the state of the country, how it's run, etc. I find it so infuriating that one of these days I'm just gonna blow up and tell them to fuck off home if they think the UK is such a shitty place

But surely everyone in the UK can see its pretty shit, so in a way, more common ground?

i tend to agree about the hypocrisy of trying your hardest to immigrate.... finally immigrating, and then complaining and demonstrating as well. thats a bit rich.

thats not what i said though.

i'm saying as a new immigrant to any country, what gives you the right to start complaining till you've contributed back into the society a bit. its the same way that here in america, people get on some pedestal about how fucked the government is, yet you find out that, not only do most of them not pay taxes, but they aren't even registered to vote or had the intention of voting at all. these people can get fucked over twice as far as i'm concerned. its got nothing to do with skin color or religion. once again, its entitlement. the foundation of democracy was built on people making their contribution, just like everyone else. after contributing, that gives you the right to dissent, not before.
its very different from the perspective of the bnp, and this archaic "royal blood" view of the world.

Haha good point sir!
But still...they tend to complain in their own little communities, not join in with the complaining masses! Segregated complaining I tell you!
Thing is, I know how everyone says the UK is shit. Sure, it has it shitty points. But the way the world is right now, everywhere's shit.
Apart from Denmark. They have happy people there. They also have Lego. We should all move to Denmark (and make it as shit as everywhere else).
