most if all percussion have a pitch. in ableton there is a spectrum analyzer called notes. it basically tells you the notes of freq. in realtime. and out of the the hundreds of kik drums i have probally looked at, most were peaking around the A, A# area. almost the same for snares. hell u can even tunes your hats this way aswell. does anyone know of a vst(free) that does this?

reaper has a plugin called retune which is pretty accurate at reading drum pitches.

also you could find a sample of a low bass note or a synth that you know what the note is, and then try to get the kick on the same pitch.

every sound has pitch! some people with perfect pitch can tell what note you are playing when you tap on your desk!
