He said he was thinking of doing an album at one point and 'Anti-War Dub' was originally going to be an interlude between tracks. Putting unreleased tracks out as an album would be a bad idea, and he would obviously never do it, but a coherent album of new stuff would be big.

Putting released tracks out as an album is a better idea?

Whistla wrote: now Mala is (as we all know) huge. but... is he as well known and regarded as say Skream (has released an album), Benga (ditto) etc etc... outside of the "dubstep crew"?

would a Mala album actually help to rejunvinate dubstep? and steer it in a new direction?

I Think thats a real good point!

There are still so many people out there who simply do not realise there is more to Dubstep than Halfstep rinse outs. If people do not know there is more to the sound, how can they be expected to look for/find it. From an education point of view, i could really see a Mala album teaching people that it can sound different to Skream, Benga etc and still be Dubstep.

If people could pick up a Mala CD in HMV and listen to it at home, maybe they would be more likely to demand a less jump up sound in big clubs.

I was under the impression that JME and that created it. Perhaps they robbed it from Coventry.

Hibbie wrote:He should never ever release an album of his unreleased tunes, it would be quite amazing if he just worked on some new material that no one else has heard and made some new tracks for an album itself
Definitely this. If it's been battered by all the big boys for years I don't want to hear it anymore. Mala is in a position where if he puts it out on DMZ or Deep Medi it will sell with zero promotion on his part and sell very well.

I don't think he will ever make an album. And especially not one with some "selected" tracks that have been lying around or an album for commercial success.
Just doesn't feel Mala-ish.

What I do know is that when he does releases an album, I'm going to make sweet love with it every night.

wouldn't mind it
but a album doesn't sound like mala at all

still begging him to drop unexpected, 5 minutes later, mountain dread march and cowboy at some point on some kind of a format

I hear both sides of the arguement for him releasing and album and him not wanting the commercial limelight.

I would be so pleased to hear an album from Mala, so many quality tunes i hear, and only a few ppl may have cuts like Pinch or Distance. He could still do an album and stay away from all the hype, eg:like burial.

feel it would be cool to hear material from Mala amazing production

with all the hassle and stress surrounding the Silkie LP i highly, highly doubt he would want to go through all that b.s. again anytime soon.

regardless, i'd still love a Mala LP. :)
