You need ASDR for drums or your beats will sound like noises on a grid without any real feel to them. Redrum leaves you will hardly any control of the actual hits!
You can even use the smaller sampler in Reason and split the keys so you can have a few hits on the one sampler. Stick that in a combinator with its own fx/eq etc. Have a different combinator for each hit that is in the same freq range, job done.

ADSR for each drum sample? what does it do to the sound/what would you do with it?
Usually my beats don't sound like hits on a grid, I change the velocity of the hits and automate the dryness of the reverb subtly to give it a realistic sound and flow, also using a few similar hi hat samples seems to work for me to make them flow better. I've not heard of using ADSR on drums but im interested to find out about it

i use ADSR on my drums all the time, defo helps create more space where the kicks and snares are concerned, hats and cymbals too
using attack on the hats is good, somewhere between 5 and 15ms

Redrum can't even reverse a sample. This one one of the many reasons why I stopped using Reason. Clearly, it ain't all about Redrum (or NN-XT for that matter)
Even the standard sampler channel in FL is better than Redrum. (It has overdrive, multiple pitchshifting modes, visual loop length markers and individual envelopes for pan, velocity, volume etc etc)
Check Battery or Guru for the heavyweight power. Both feature a plethora of on board effects
per sample and can be routed to their own mixer channel like Redrum.
Did someone mention sample layering in Redrum?
-------------------------------------------------------
I think I dislike the lack of features in Reason almost as much as midrange cack... I just need to wait for the 'h8rz' to tell me to stop vocalising my opinions hehe.

I wish i could get my head round ableton, i have it but i cant use it, i just get confused, i find reason so much easier.

did i not just explain it in the above quote ?? lol
if you've done what i just mentioned, they should appear in a strip on the far right hand side of the screen
if not, then they havent installed properly, or worse still you have a crack where the lessons arent included

Where is the overdrive etc on the sampler in FL? u dont mean adding an FX to the channel?

it helps to give it swing and a more natrual feel.

Reason4tehwin!
Pros and Cons
For:
Loads of decent quality sample packs available for it (Refills)
Effects are easy to use and sound good.
Easy to get the hang of studio routing.
Malstrom / Scream 4 / RV7000
Cons:
You have to
pay extra for direct audio editing facilities (Record) or have to
sacrifice workflow by bouncing to wavs or using Rewire.
No decent spectrum analyser
No MP3 support
No funky features or effects like pitch shifting, timestretching or phase correction plugins etc etc
Samplers, Subtractor and Thor are all outclassed by VST alternatives (both commercial and free)
It is made to be semi modular, yet Reason lacks simple units like a dedicated LFO rack unit or Filter that combines all the filter types available from Thor, Malstrom and the ECF-Filter.
-------------------------------------------------------------
The 'In' gain control can be overdriven.
Also, the amp control on the legacy effects section produces overdrive distortion if I recall correctly..?

In all honesty I don't actually know.
Section 9 (not ghost in the shell) was the standard sampler controls in earlier versions of FL...
Maybe there is a tick box in the preferences to display the legacy effects? It may also be available from a drop down menu on the sampler itself?

that stuff must have been removed after FL v3 ?:)
Never seen them ever and I just searched but cannot find them.

Section 9 would be more useful to me than the current controls.
The amp and boost controls allow for overdrive (great on kick drums)
The Sine FX controls provide ring modulation on the sample
The S.Delay provides for delay effects and the reverb does what it says on the tin! For me, this is more useful than loop start and crossfade controls.
Just tick the show legacy controls box in the General section of the preferences to swap to the old controls.
The other controls are explained in more detail at the bootom of the link I posted above.
