I had a lot of university exams lately, still one to go.
I was so hyped up that I'll have time to lay a track down! And when I finally had the time to sit down infront of my workstation nothing came out. Really frustrating!
So I feel you mate!
Hang on!

OK, since legend4ry was really kool to me when i was just new to DSF and gave me some good convensions... i am going to try help a fellow producer out
(some of the things are going to probably make you laff but hey some things got to work!)
No. 1 Do you have a healthy life style... Do you eat all that junk food shit!, cheap chicken from like £1, we call these places "Maryland" where i live, am not sure what they call it where you live? Because, normally that kind of foods are no good for you or your system! They will make you like all happy and stuff for like 30 mins then you will be all down and tried... wanting to go bed and do noting, now that don't sound to productive to me! Eat well, drink at least a pint glass water everyday at least! Have about 8 hours of sleep, its good for you

Plus one more thing while we are on this topic...
going for a poo everyday shows that you are physically healthy, if not that needs to be sorted out!
No. 2 its all good being fit and healthy, but you got to mentally healthy as well. Try not to get stressed too much as it can cause many problems. Find ways to get rid of stress, i like to go play football on Fridays and run till i cant walk no more

I like to go out and meet new people, or either chilling with my friends.. that helps trust me, being locked in the house all day is shit! you need that fresh air

Ooo yeah, spend time with your women ...

as techno producer say, get down and dirty with the delay and reverb!
No. 3 Go back and listen to some of your songs... open your files and think in your head dammm i made that man

i know that kind of sounds dumb but hey am sure there was a time in every producers life when they could not make good songs at first but then you start to get better and better as you progress!
I dont think you have any problems with making songs... that's quite clear.... you make great songs! its just that your maybe having on of them off period times. Just keep the body and mind at peace and trust me it will be all good, because i know when i am feeling healthy and good, i make some good stuff, but the only problem is that i get ill quite a lot. So staying healthy is a must!!!
Other then that it will be all right, noting to worry about mate, everyone gets it at some point.
If this didnt work, ill go back and listen to special kinda vibe, and then send you a long message again to why i think its a beautiful song!
Help this helps Chris.

Go watch tv, do your hw, clean your house, feed your cat, try to produce but find you cant, go for a run, sleep, eat dinner, then produce.
Typical teenage life right there, never did me wrong.

oh, and i'll add this, legend4ry...
i had some DnB drums and a bassline going today, but i couldn't figure out for the life of me what other sounds to put it... writer's block, you could call it... (sure i coulda put anything, but i wanted something special)... so i decided to go out in nature. however, i didn't want to go too far from the comp, so i went on youtube, did a quick search for "jungle sounds" and then imagined myself meditating in a rainforest... it was incredibly relaxing, and after hearing all the beautiful sounds of the birds, insects, rain, and thunder... i was starting to get some pretty good ideas for synth sounds to layer over my fat bass... so i dunno. nature works for me. if videos do nothing for you, physically get out in nature, away from it all, watch a sunset.

This thread makes this hobby of ours seem way too much like work. Sometimes I go two weeks without opening Logic, through lack of time/inspiration or whatever. All you can do in these situations is keep listening to other music, varied as possible, and I know all our heads are coming up with ideas constantly.
When I'm stuck for inspiration for a real song, but I feel like producing, I tend to whack out a couple of silly bootlegs, normally kick starts the creative side of my brain and before I know it I'm taking out more and more of the original song.
Seriously though, as far as I'm concerned doing anything like trying to make sure you're still 'producing' for a minimum amount of time per week is counter-intuitive to working to your best standard. Nobody does their best work with a gun to their head.

bro bro, spend some time in the jungle, it is the least relaxing place I've ever been. The sound can be deafening. Every frequency is occupied by one species or another, all competing for auditory bandwidth. Everything is screaming for food or for sex or for both. At sunset, organisms crowded out of the auditory communication spectrum begin to luminesce their desires.
Leg4, maybe you should go to the jungle?

I found that clearing out my sample packs and re-organizing my hard drives full of audio gave me enough inspiration to work with. The dry spell shall pass mate. I know it.

Similar boat here, lately haven't been making tunage or finishing any songs but I have been trying to learn some synths and sound design...but i havent been able to figure out how to make the sounds I want. Also been reading up on music theory and learning the piano.
I feel like I need to take one step back so I can take two steps forward. Oh and all those other responsibilities like work, girl, side interests qnd lack of audio equipment hasnt been helpin!

nah, ain't been to the jungle, but i was trying to find sounds from a forest, which is where i like to be.. and besides, i really don't see how what you described is much different from city life.. that's what people are doing every day. people just think they're more important than animals. it gives me inner peace to know that we're all in the same boat on this planet.

City life is tranquil by comparison.

i'm having difficulty comprehending your point... it's good that you think city life's tranquil, i guess. personally, i'd take the sound of animals over cars any day.
