ugh- fucking hate mt eden dubstep - playing with him/them this friday.
gonna do my best not to meet/talk to them - i'm worried i'll be a tnuc and unleash fire.
also - for more mt eden lols -read this interview and the comments on the event thing
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=3 ... 743&ref=mf
*edit* don't bother reading comments - promoter deleted them all
(they don't play live at all btw - cdjs, that's all)

i hate to play peace keeper here but who cares. hes not the best producer to say the least but the mans doing his thing and some people like it. id rather a bunch of clueless scene kids listen to mt eden than to not listen to dubstep at all. same with borgore and all the other producers who get stick. nobodies forcing you to listen to it so just shut it out if you dont like it, each to their own n all that. dno though maybe im just chatting wafflecakes and music is subliminally controlling the minds of the youths by artists such as see here. i really dont know...
and for the record people who confuse the word "base" with "bass" should have their ears cut off by an eastern european war veteran imo

I am a student myself. And I swear students are ruining dubstep. I fucking hate saying you're a dubstep dj to someone else who's also a student and getting a response like "oh, I love dubstep especially fucking love Boregore and Mt Eden" and then complaining when you say you're more into Distance and other genuinely dark or heavy producers. There's so many fucking posers out there who've ripped like 8 tracks off youtube and claim to be experts and think that the kids of skins are actually cool. Or also seeing some hipster tnuc singing along to the Skream remix of La Roux and then calling it "sick dub" gets me angry to the point of wanting to punch them in the back of their head while they dance about like a wanker in front of me.
What's with that actually? People calling all dubstep just dub. Like people going "awww mate, that new Dr P is some sick dub". I mean do people not know dub is type of music itself? Dozy stnuc deserve a smack.

the reason is the midrangeness of his music, people listen to "bury the bwoy" by mala on laptop speakers (average kids wont have big setups) and hear relativley nothing and are like "well this is shit", whereas mt.eden sounds just as good as on a sub woofer,
lesson is dont listen to bass driven music without a bassbin or decent headphones

This is annoying now I'm gonna have to add another view to the 89,000,000,000 hits the youtube track has got cos he/them have totally passed me by! Might be a good thing reading all the above hatred tho!

i have never seen what the hype was about mt eden either. i thought i was alone because everyone around me loves his stuff. i, like the author of this thread, have always just said "that's cool"
i'm extremely glad i'm not alone now. however, that doesn't mean that mt eden doesn't make good music. all the songs have great ideas, they're just a little too bland for me. but that's okay, it's all part of your taste in music. everyone is entitled to their own opinion and tastes. i just think that artists who put more work and skill into their productions got recognized more than mt eden. if i were a first time dubstep listener and ran across mt eden, i would probably not continue looking for more dubstep.
the guy has done a great job putting his music out though, gotta give him that much.
peace all

Bah... I don't think hes too bad. That Ill Skillz remix is allright, even if taking on Burial was a mistake. I definitely don't find him as personally offensive as most of the people posting on here. Seems like most commercial/ widely-popular producers get a lot of stick on dsf, but at the end of the day, Mala isn't for everyone. Some people want to go out, get drunk and dance to something a bit mindless rather than sit there and enjoy the laidback vibes or the 'deeper/darker' stuff - 'real' dubstep or what ever you want to refer to it as.
You can find the same kind of divide in every scene and it's not really worth getting worked up over.
Personally I enjoy both deeper and mindless, although Borgore's stuff does irritate me.

^this ain't about genres mate...
Reso's temjin ep is very much in the same area but 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times better
reso's stuff should be what those twats prefer but they probably wouldn't

Absolutely, you can. I'm not his pr lady, but I'll tell you what I think of him: I think he made 3 good songs, sweet, rasputin and gargoyle, a short while ago, but I don't know if he's going anywhere new in the future. If his recent paris mix represents the sound we should expect to hear from him in the future, I'm not too excited.

heard Mt Eden only for the first time the other day. Nearly vomited into my mouth when I heard the Archangel "remix" - that shit should be punishable by law imo.

clearly this mt eden guy makes terrible tunes. but i dont even think that's the point
i think what no one wants to acknowledge is that dubstep is still underground. yall act like everybody has been wanking off to burial as much as you have, well guess what. all those "students" that you're hating on probably just didnt hear of dubstep until recently. this doesnt make them wrong , it makes them ignorant. maybe they havent had a full on nerd fest listening to all of burials stuff. maybe they'd like it if they were educated on it. or maybe not. who cares
