from what im gathering off the ol internets its a way of fattening a sound without compressing the initial transients. might have to fuck about with this tonight :D

its the same as reveres reverb. just reveres your auido then, compress then, reverse it again.

yea so a sucking effect vs a pumping like with sidechaining
messed with it before for some interesting results, just you have to think of your envelope and ratio in a diff way

yes and no, so of the effect can be made the way the other is kinda tricky to explain and already have some booze in me, but lemme have a smoke and think of a good way to explain it

Without consulting the interwebs, I think u lot r crazy. Compressors usually contain attack and release controls. If you want to retain your transients, use a slower attack...? Wut wut?

sounds like a lot of mucking around...

this "experimentation" sounds fun but not very practical

Reverse Limiting

seriously though on a site explaining reverse compression, the guy went into "sidechained reverb"?

basically take a source e.g snare send to a reverb bus, then add a compressor after the reverb with the sidechain input coming from the snare (or anything else you want)

you get a really clean/dry sound when the sound is played but then you get the reverb creep up in the tail to fill out the space a bit. Thought it was quite cool
