I blame youtube. One, rather large example...

Whore 1) If you truly were into the sound why would you be all like NZ MADE etc. It's fucking irrelevant imo if its good its good (this aint)... It seems like some kind of sympathy/whore card..

Whore 1a) Hes claimed the suburb of Mt Eden in his name, LOL, let alone putting dubstep in his name.. how original!

Whore 2) Remix whore, wheres the attempt at original production? Taking someone else's work, jumping on the advantage of the 'dubstep' sound knowing that when people search it it's going to come up and I assume because hes not signed it's not going to be taken down due to copyright.

Whore 2a. We all know the stupid amount of youtube views is partly because hes got 'dubstep' in his name, which again is taking something fresh/good and whoring it - (dubstep became more popular in NZ 07-present i think, so that explains the generic tin-can sounding wobble/snare on top of the highnuts voice.

Whore 2b. Im quite sure another part of the sher size of views is because of the high singing voice that seems to draw a wider range of, perhaps a more mainstream audience but maybe it's got some emotional grab on nubz - (I saw a video of him live and the whole fukn crowd was going WOOAAH WOO OOO WOAAHH)

Whore 3. Youtube is known for whores, and the problem is you can create dud accounts, refresh your own views, etc etc (maybe they've become more strict but it's also because people would search it every time they want to listen to the shit)

Whore 3a. The more people talk about it, the more views it's going to get, so it's a bit of a backfire y'know

I could probably come up with some more points but i'd rather not bore you peeps! I just wanted to get this off my chest..

id never heard of mt eden or cragga before this thread, seems to be a youtube thing

dubstep changed my perspective on sampling and the need of it, that's for sure.
there's simply too many samples not necessary in certain tunes, ruining the idea of "creating" music rather than just making a "mixable" track

Let them have their Youtube remixes and bollocks samples. It doesn't really matter and it doesn't really affect your choice of listening pleasure.
Silkie won't be producing a chainsaw version of the Coronation Street theme tune anytime soon.
Burial won't be sampling StarShip Troopers to accompany the recent banger he plans to start making on the 7th of Never.
Mala won't be remixing Cookie Monsta's Ginger Pubes, and chances are Loefah won't be doing a b2b set with Borgore anytime soon.

It doesn't really make any difference. You have your music, they have theirs. Fuck.
