really what can you say that isnt offensive?

quit worrying about being offensive and just straight laugh in the guys face... we stand up for our music online, why not do it IRL? stick to your guns, and tell that dude that if he treats you like DJ Request again you'll give him a proper backhand

also, people need to quit crying about the ministry cd,,, get over it. at least people will listen to it and realize that a lot of different sounds encompass this genre... at least shackleton is on it, half the people on this site dont even think he's dubstep

Nah, what'll happen is all the people who buy shit like that will buy it and skip the dmz/shackleton etc tracks and dismiss them as boring and having no bass and just listen to the jakwob etc.

Who cares what part of the cd they listen to, their loss!

It's time to stop worrying about the "scene", just stick to your ideals and do you

I don't care. I was just putting the point forward.

Pistons, next time someone comes up and asks that, ask them a question back. Any question. They'll get confused and probably walk off.

This!

Mt Eden with five million youtube hits or whatever, and a Ministry of Sound dubstep mix, are sure signs that Dubstep is no longer a strictly underground scene still defining itself, but we all knew it had to happen eventually, and it doesn't mean the end of good Dubstep or good music. Support whatever you're down with, if you don't like Mt Eden don't go to his shows, don't play his tunes, don't buy his forthcoming album (on Universal Music  ) but other than that there's not much else to do. Likewise, if you hate that Ministry of Sound cd so darn much  then don't buy it. It's that simple.

It seems to me that there are more topics on this forum about what people don't like/are really mad about, than good stuff that people are feeling atm, and really, what's the point?

:w:

^^^In the other thread about Mt Eden they posted an interview with him where he says he's got an offer from Universal to move to England and work with them. So who knows, maybe he'll be dubstep Tiesto in a couple years

i hope to universal he's just a flavour of the month, the john and edward of dubstep.

I also hope this influx of shit will be like bassline in UKG... at the start it was only a few well produced tracks getting attention, then it went massive, production and inventiveness went downhill until it all sounded the same (sound familiar), and it mostly died a death.

or i've seen this new thing on facebook 'drumstep'... please enlighten me someone!!.. but the DAT IZ SIK crew seem to be jumping on this bandwagon now

Ive had this happen to me as well, I just say no.

Even if I'm playing a house set people will ask for Mt Eden, it's a disturbing trend

THIS^^^

I find it fucking awkward being asked what music i like because more often than not people try and talk to me about 'dubstep' and i just get pissed off and then make my self sound like a pretentious tnuc.
