What do you mean CDJs can't utilize the cue button?
i think he means serato can't work with the cdj's cue button.
...Unless they're USB/MIDI capable (Pioneer cdj400, cdj800, cdj1000; and I'm sure any others being made these days); in which case plug em up, and everything works like a charm. You can even map the less useful buttons to specific cue points/samples/effects.
And when I do use CDs, which isn't often, I put 12 tracks on a CD, burn doubles, and write the names of the tracks in permanent marker on the disks. Don't do that unless your cdjs can list ID3 info....

i don't think the 1000s have midi either, i'm pretty sure it's just the cdj400s. which is why they are so popular..

i'd prefer cdjs over serato because i really dont like the idea of using a laptop whilst djing, im not sure why, maybe because my laptop is shit, but cdjs seem more universal than serato and is less annoying to set up.

Yeh, I think you're right. And yeh - vinyl timecodes are infinitely better. Cdj's just feel like toys...

sl3 and traktor scratch is relatively basic to set up but you are right, serato is frustrating
