The 'Spawn' synth was mentioned on here a while back but for anyone who missed it or didn't notice the others...heads up! They've been described, amongst a couple of others, as the best analogue synths in Reaktor, they're all free, look gorgeous and sound Mint.

they are bad synths, need to turn down the reverb and delay but awesome.

Im using reaktor more than anything else these days and not even scratched the surface, let alone tried building anything.

Same, every time a new VST effect gets hyped I almost always find myself saying "I can do that in Reaktor already".

Im actually at a place now where im 100% happy with the gear ive got, spent a lot of time (12 years!) and money building it up, but im totally happy.

UAD plugins for eq/reverb/delay/compression
Nebula3 for reverb/preamps
Komplete 5 - Battery/Kontakt/Massive/Reaktor for drums/synthesis. Not even looked at absynth or fm8 yet so got at least a few more years of use from this.
A few other bits ive picked up over the years (audiodamage plugs/albino3/TBK filter/ADM&ABL 808,909 and 303)
And a PC which although getting on a bit, with the uad cards is more than enough to get tunes done with the occasional freeze.
Cubase 5 and Ableton 8 for writing.

So im well sorted. Would like a Wavelab/Soundforge type prog but bit expensive and can work around it. But not essential.

But yeah with reaktor i dont think ill ever need another synth or glitch plugin ever again. (sorry bit OT then).

The sound engine is fucking phenomenal too.

took me about a week/reading the manual to get a decent little 3 osc (or more if need be) with all the fixings (enveloppes/synced lfos/whatever else I could think of) doing stuff I had never heard another synth do... I fucking love this damn thing.. I'm trying to understand the more complex waveforms (multi sines/steps) and fm/rm/am synthesis at this point... but it's more sound theory not programming skill that I lack at this point...

anyways... I cant wait to have a bit of time to sit down and acctually fuck around with all the ideas I've written down... soon!

Might be true for synths - I've got a number of synths (eg Massive) that I know I've only scratched the surface of, and I'd probably be better off learning them properly than trying to build something useful and new in Reaktor. There are maybe some specific sorts of sound that would be easier to build than to program, but I don't hit them very often, and there are a load of absolutely beastly synths already out there that can do pretty much anything that I could easily do in Reaktor.

But for effects modular environments are a godsend. It's often comparatively simple stuff like "I wish I had an LFO controlled ringmod" or "I wish I had a delay with a pitchshifter in the delay line", but there are a load of quite interesting things you can do by combining simple effects and controls in slightly interesting ways that it would take quite a while to find an existing plugin to do.

Probably this is because VST synths tend to be big and flexible and semi-modular while VST effects tend to be simple and stripped down and have fairly minimal controls...

Also the Saw Synth is pretty wicked, used it a fair bit. Radian makes the bomb shit on Reaktor, which is good cos I cant program to save my life.
