Seconded, you really have to feature this place simply because it holds the two biggest dub/dubstep nights in the north
Yeah, the atmosphere is spectacular in there. Another advantage is that it's so remote, so you don't chance the city centre fodder deciding to drop in and trying to lock horns with anything in sight.

Awesome venue.

Heavyweight at the Other Rooms, Newcastle- always a good night
they get messed around a bit with bookings i think with it being so far away from london but that doesn't stop them

colder wrote:Method in Preston, Lancashire has a monthly (or more) night called Drop which is fucking awesome. for £4 (an absolute pittance) i've seen people like Goth Trad, Reso, Funtcase, Datsik, The Others, Borgore, Caspa, Bar 9, and both Rusko and i think Breakage are coming up. it's awesome when people do exciting things in otherwise shit cities for the love of it, not to make big cash.
bein honest i was gona take the piss cos u suggested Preston

but now i think about it the clubs that should be getting the recognition are in place like Preston, where no one else has really heard of em but they still manage to put on events that attract loadsa people every time and with next to no national recognition

most clubs mentioned in this thread everyone knows about anyway, whats the point in listing the most popular places, as if thats gona do anyone any favours, everyone goes there anyway, i mean people travel from across the world to go DMZ, FWD, EXODUS, SUBDUB etc.

should give recognition to the places no one knows about, would help in developing local scenes if the big lineups they put on were well publicised, i know of so many nights that put too much effort in to stay running with little to no exposure

big ups, i agree 100%. preston's a shithole compared to manchester (where i'm from), but it's sick that people are still trying to do different and exciting things for the right reasons.

found out today though that the club's shutting down at the end of next month due to the total fucking apathy of people who claim to be 'well into dubstep' around here...the night's gonna continue at a different venue though!

there's absolutely no way to make this a list of 10. 20 could maybe cover it.

I think you need to distinguish between clubs and club nights.

In terms of nights, I think Exodus/Sub Dub, DMZ and FWD>>> are out on their own in the UK.

Digital has a good soundsystem...but attracts dick heads...
Concorde is good - but only when Superdubpressure stick their 40,000 watt system in there..
Volks..is also quite good.
Agreed, I've had the best nights at Concorde 2 - it's just expensive. Digital do have good DJs at the weekends but most of the weeks it's shitty Indie stuff that young teenagers get off to - so a lot of them end up there on the weekend too. Volks probably best for underground vibe, but can be deserted in there. Audio is pretty cool, but yes soundsystem lacks, but the outdoors terrace place is nice.
didnt realise there were many brighton heads on the forum!
