Late '06 - early '07

Mate of mine was into grime and got me listening to rinse mixes.

'07 really was the pinnacle year for me tho. Especially Big Chill that year - DMZ dropping serious bass weight, enough to make the jelly in your eyes shake; Skream with the blackout in the DubShack (mmmm overproof rum)

Currently - Manchester, UK

This CD sold it for me.

EDIT: Could've been late 2008 actually, but I'm sure I was listening to stuff in 07.

i was first introduced in late 07 early 08 by just checking out artists people would tell me about (skream, ntype, benga etc.). then in 09 a friend gave me a mix by http://www.myspace.com/djtinhead.
after that i did a little searching and found the minimixes by whoa-b and the live sets from sonar on youtube, and it's been on ever since.
oh and i'm from the us.

First tune i heard was "Camel Ride" by Plastician. I got through a french magazine. I loved that tune. But at that time it was just called grime. It was September 2004. Then i just knew few about that scene, bought Mark One first album in March 2005. Very good album. But i've been really hooked when Digital Mystikz, Plasticman, Mark One came in Brussels in the summer 2005 accompanied by JME and Skepta (i think)... I was blown away by every tune i heard and i didn't know hardly any of these. I remember "Dipset (Santana's Town)" by Juelz Santana has been rinsed this night, so was a tune that later became the first classic of this genre : "Midnight Request Line".

After that, i spent all my week ends at my friend DJ Skar house, listening to the records he bought, the mixes he made and the mixes by Grimelock, Bunzero he gave me.

Namur, Belgium

2007 - went to a technicality all nighter with some friends for the drum and bass but saw loefah mixing and was amazed by this new bass heavy sound. never heard anything like it, was well impressed. During this time also heard the Vex'd album and bass suddenly became one of the most important things in music.
Because of dubstep i've listened to a lot more dub, reggae and other music that has inspired dubstep artists. Sounds corny but dubstep has really opened my eyes.

Last summer a friend talked me into dropping the cash to see Benga at Dubocracy in Atlanta. I had never heard bass that loud and remember smiling the first 30 min of his set because my chest wouldn't stop rattling.
