Go to the device manager under the system properties tab and look for whatever is listed under 'soundcard' (or something like that).
Or fire up Reason, and on the 'Audio Devices' page, choose 'Directsound'. Close the preferences window and press play, if you hear anything then you have a soundcard!

turns out i do have one
that saves some money for the time being atleast while i get some more ram, a HDD and some headphones lol,
any headphones you recommend?

Mine lasted 8 years before they took the bullet.
Only cost £20, so that was £20 very well spent imo!
