Haven't been able to get in the studio all weekend as I've had DIY shit to be doing (shudder)... Will get on this later.

This is going to sound noobish, but can someone explain 'pitch drift' and how it is achieved, I haven't heard the term before.
I'm not sure you will be able to emulate it exactly with soft synths as it is most likely some 'gremlins' in the hardware that caused it.
However i think with massive you might be able to achieve this with some clever use of envelopes to modulate pitch. I will give it a try when i am home.

Not strictly horror film, but Carpenter's Escape From New York has some sick score on it.

to do pitch drift...

modulate each osc to a separate Sample & Hold LFO (Sine will do...) each at a different speed with 1% ish modulation amount. Instant unstable analogness.

John carpenter is a huge influence for me so is Ennio Morricone. He pretty much nailed that 80s horror sound with the intro music in The Thing:

Best film ever btw
I had a go at making this sound on the Virus the other day - saw waves detuned into an analogue 2pole low pass with lots of res and some analogue satuartion to tame it down a bit with the filter cut off all the way down and a +ve envelope doing a nice slow sweep with the amp envelope doing the same sorta thing - slow attack and release.
Also have the mod wheel controlling the filter envelope amount
Another tip for those horror sounds is have one saw wave tuned to 0 and the other tuned to +1 for that dissonant evil sound.

being a huge zombie movie/Carpenter fan i absolutely love these synth scores

especially this

the way it drops at around 50 seconds. shivers.....

would love to make something like that.
