cant imagine listening to 50 diffrent 30 minute mixes.id forget which one was good, especially if theres a set song set.
Thats just my opnion.
Because Ill be lucky to get 5 entries, much less 50... and because when I mix, ten minutes is hardly enough to get through 2 tunes. I dont want people to feel rushed or anything, gotta give them time to get into the flow.

How about we sort that by category ?
I'm in anyway.
Heavyweight category btw

We spent alot of time discussing that but I feel like not dividing into genre will only prove to make the DJ's think a little harder about thier selections. Youll be needing to appeal to both sides, much as you would have to if you were playing a diverse club night... so IMO, itll make things more interesting. Besides that, Ill make an effort to turn out an unbiased listener set when it ocmes to this sort of thing.
If more people raise objections though I will categorize it. it seems a little counter-intuitive to me though, not only does it take some of the challenge out of things, but it also will have me cutting the number of competitors in half, and the audiences as well. A big reason Im doing this is to make both sides feel welcome on the channel at any time... This might defeat that if we split.
OK, let's do it without categories.
Basic A wrote:daft tnuc wrote:Oh and why having both time & max tunes limits ?
Max time seems fine but those who like to mix faster should be able to, shouldn't they ?
Absoloutely, however, Im going to have to manage the posting of ALOT of tracklists here, and also recording of ALOT of streaming sets. This rule was made out of time restrictions and convenience when I have to set up the voting only. Its also flexible... Perhaps I should raise the limit to 20, and focus more on enforcing time then tune limit?
To me, time limit only is fine. What everyone thinks about it ?
Basic A wrote:daft tnuc wrote:One last thing.
Why dubplates wouldn't be allowed ? I don't have any but if someone does, I don't see why they couldn't use them.
Having access to such material is part of the quality of a DJ so since it's a contest, it's 100% fair to me to use anything you have at your disposal.
So... anybody else not feeling rules 1 to 4 ?
This is once again, to keep things fair. As I said, we dont need someone dropping a VIP plate and winning based on another producers skills. Originally, we were considering having a 10 track pack of only forum members tunes which could be used, but we decided this wasnt fair for vinyl enthusiasts. Just as the ableton djs cant use loops to win a set over, vinyl djs cant win based on connections with producers or labels. Fairness.
No problem, I was just saying
Basic A wrote:And WHAT could you problem POSSIBLY be with 'no dead silences or rewinds'... this is more effort to keep everything fair to vinyl and digital alike, and effectively should say no scratching or rewinds... things that arent technically possible on digital mediums.
I don't have a problem with it and I can't stand rewinds anyway. I thought it'd be easier to reach the final if people started throwing rewinds every couple of tune

(j/k)

Its not really a soundclash per-se, more just a battle.
