I don't follow you on this one, I'm actually hiding mine.
for the simple reason that I have frustrations about "image" and prejudging based on first impressions.
As I try to look as neutral as possible in my every day life I am starting to take distance from subculture/peer groups/whatever you want to call it.
I've stopped wearing baggy pants or graphic tees.
For that reason I only want tattoos where people can see them if allow anyone to see them.
It's a bit complicated to explain because it's for several reasons.
right now I have a tattoo on my leg and in my lip, and the ones that will follow are also all decided to be at places invisible if I'm wearing regular clothes.

i don't mean to be rude, but why would you want to 'look' normal? Is that not just conforming?

Define normal.
Conforming doesn't make you less of an individual. You don't need to inject ink into your skin to be different.

No more-so than going for a particular 'look' or wanting to "express your individuality" through your clothes. Isn't that the ultimate form of conformity in our society? Wanting to be "an individual"?

Theres an MC who used to be around Reading (dont know if he still is) called MC lippy. he wasnt that great.
anyway he had "lippy" tattooed across the side of the neck. I always wondered how he fared in job interviews.

You could cover it with a band-aid to make it look innocent, no?

This.
Can't stand people with stuff like 'established 1983' or whatever on the backs of their necks to signify their birthdate.

Covering the tattoo? So why actually get the tattoo with a stupid word in a stupid place? Defeats the object.

I have nothing against Tattoos. Some of them look good.
But getting garish "I'm 'aarrdd" messages/ pictures in places that are visible has the potential to hinder you in life.
Places will actually not employ someone because of it.
It also makes you look like a chav.
That being said, Antlions one isn't too bad as it's in a more discreet location.

I'm sure you could make an exception for a JOB INTERVIEW

99.99% of tattoos is see nowadays are shit.
I can't see one upside to having a neck tattoo, or any visible tattoo.

I don't live towards looking "normal", but neutral.
My reason to try and look as neutral as possible are as said for several reasons, if you want I can make a little list of things that come to mind?
I've never really been confronted with racism (I have brown skin shade for the reason of being Latin-America born/rooted) but people tend to look at you differently anyway.
1. Giving you compliments on your "perfect dutch"
2. Talking French or English to you
3. Talking Arabian to you
4. Getting dumped by chicks who confused you with "wrong people" due to the way you look
5. etcetera
different negative approaches towards someone just by the way they look.
since recently I started to notice some other approaches.
6. Getting compliments on clothes, popularity due to image
7. Chicks getting uncomfortable due to physical attraction
and with other people I noticed how image building towards popularity is stronger than themselves.
All of a sudden you see everyone with a sleeve, stretchers, wearing all the brands, the hats, taking drugs to gain in popularity.
And now I'm talking about 20+
I know that if I smoke weed I do it for myself, and I don't need to try out speed, mdma or whatever so I can be "one of the cool guys"
If I try to fight an identity crisis due to reasons 1, 2 and 3 by having my birthplace tattood in my inner lip that's personal and not for everyone to see.
I want to get tattood but it's not for the sake of a popularity circus.
I just don't want to give in,
everything I do is for me, without being selfish

But if you get the job and they see it...then...well can of worms..
"Oh I didn't know you had a tattoo?"
"Yeah I covered it up for the interview."
"Oh i see, let's have a look then," *pause* "What does it mean?"
"Means I'm a fucking retard and obviously embarrassed about it that I actually covered it up in the first place because it was a stupid mistake and I'm not proud of it."
You should get a job,
then a tattoo...

I agree that getting a tattoo like that is silly but then maybe the work you're going into doesn't require you to look "professional"
