if time is in fact linear

Eh? I wasn't referring to anything else that's been posted, and wasn't asking a question. You pay attention.parson wrote:try paying attentiontherapist wrote:If it was possible we'd have one by now.

just because no one understands what your saying doesn't necessarily mean what you're saying is deepBLAHBLAHJAH wrote:A whole wave of humans who lack the brains to take up science but are too proud to take up religion. Maybe that's time travel in itself
yeah, that video was super vague... he just spends seven minutes telling us that stuff exists but never goes into any of itnoam wrote:yeah i understand that is in fact one theory of many regards time travel, tbh im much less sceptical about time travel than other things, examples of apparent time travel or at least movement that seemingly breaks the laws to do with the speed of light are around aren't they? like at a micro-molecular level, there are particles which come in pairs, and when separated, ones opposite seemingly jumps in and out of existence to follow its opposing half... i wish i could remember what they were called, someone will probably correct me in any case!
one thing which is confusing me slightly...
he starts off talking about how governments, people etc. aren't morally responsible to cope with the issues regarding time travel. Why? He claims to offer 40-50 reasons why, most of these i am assuming would be to do with changing the course of events here, or at least thats what im assuming most of the issues are to do with, but then he back tracks and says that in fact these paradoxes are non-existent, and you travel to other dimensions.
so the moral problems he is talking about concern other dimensions?
also there are logical problems to do with multi-dimensional theories, this whole idea sounds very much like the Lewisian philosophy of Counterpart theory and Possible World theory, which ultimately faced many problems... funnily enough this guys name is David Lewis too... hmmm
No we don't.parson wrote:the point is we have emtherapist wrote:Eh? I wasn't referring to anything else that's been posted, and wasn't asking a question. You pay attention.parson wrote:try paying attentiontherapist wrote:If it was possible we'd have one by now.
IMO you wouldn't be able to go backwards, but you could go round the block so-to-speak.parson wrote:basically time travel paradoxes don't exist. you can't go back and kill your grandfather because you'll go back and kill a parallel you's grandfather in another universe. there are infinite universes.

you just erected a strawman and burned it to the ground right in front of our very eyesnoam wrote: he starts off talking about how governments, people etc. aren't morally responsible to cope with the issues regarding time travel. it's got nothing to do with accelerating to the speed of light. these guys are straight up warping gravityfrank grimes jr. wrote:IMO you wouldn't be able to go backwards, but you could go round the block so-to-speak.parson wrote:basically time travel paradoxes don't exist. you can't go back and kill your grandfather because you'll go back and kill a parallel you's grandfather in another universe. there are infinite universes.
Fuck, if I'm moving the speed of light, there is plenty more interesting than my grandfather.
I'm made of limitless energy and information at this point, and I certainly don't want to pop by the Earth for a pint anytime soon.
