Hey again, would I be able to use my computer speakers (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Surround ... B000JJM8XE) with the decks etc? Not sure if these would work or not. O.o
You certainly can.apmje wrote:Hey again, would I be able to use my computer speakers (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Surround ... B000JJM8XE) with the decks etc? Not sure if these would work or not. O.o
you're trying to hook up straight into computer speakers? that probably won't work because the signal from turntables is quite low and you'll need some kind of pre-amp to get an audible signal. a mixer will do that when you've got that so you'll need to hook up your speakers into the output of the mixer. i imagine the input on those speakers is a 3.5mm jack so you'll probably need a phono to 3.5mm cable to connect from your mixer to the speakers and then it should workapmje wrote:How would I go about hooking this up? Just got the decks from my friend now, just waiting on money for some more records and a mixer.

Thanks man, thats what I thought but just wasn't too sure. Had a feeling it'd be a lot easier with the mixer so just plugged them into an old amp upstairs.badger wrote:you're trying to hook up straight into computer speakers? that probably won't work because the signal from turntables is quite low and you'll need some kind of pre-amp to get an audible signal. a mixer will do that when you've got that so you'll need to hook up your speakers into the output of the mixer. i imagine the input on those speakers is a 3.5mm jack so you'll probably need a phono to 3.5mm cable to connect from your mixer to the speakers and then it should workapmje wrote:How would I go about hooking this up? Can't say I've ever used that mixer but it looks well suited for a beginner (its certainly miles better than the piece of crap I used when I started out lol).apmje wrote:Back onto the mixer discussion. Decided againest the previous mixer mentioned and going with a Numark M2. Good choice for a beginner? Also, how is it possible for me to record from this mixer to the PC?
Thanks again!
This is the mixer that i started with. Quality little piece of kit i found it to be, no worries with it or nothing.apmje wrote:Numark M2. Good choice for a beginner?
i'm on a mac now but i'm sure i used to use the blue line in on my old PC. microphone line will work but i think it'll be worse qualityShum wrote:You'll be wanting to plug the output of your mixer into the pink socket (microphone in) from the "Record" output on the back of your chosen mixer.
yeah its better to use the LINE IN, because the MIC iN has its own pre amp & this can fuck with the quality of ya signal! it will still work... but your better off getting a less coloured sound to record like!badger wrote:i'm on a mac now but i'm sure i used to use the blue line in on my old PC. microphone line will work but i think it'll be worse qualityShum wrote:You'll be wanting to plug the output of your mixer into the pink socket (microphone in) from the "Record" output on the back of your chosen mixer.
Good point, I mentioned Mic in because EVERY soundcard these days will have one for web chatting purposes. As for line in I'm not entirely sure.Sirius wrote:yeah its better to use the LINE IN, because the MIC iN has its own pre amp & this can fuck with the quality of ya signal! it will still work... but your better off getting a less coloured sound to record like!badger wrote:i'm on a mac now but i'm sure i used to use the blue line in on my old PC. microphone line will work but i think it'll be worse qualityShum wrote:You'll be wanting to plug the output of your mixer into the pink socket (microphone in) from the "Record" output on the back of your chosen mixer.
