Hey again, would I be able to use my computer speakers (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Surround ... B000JJM8XE) with the decks etc? Not sure if these would work or not. O.o

How would I go about hooking this up? Just got the decks from my friend now, just waiting on money for some more records and a mixer.

you're trying to hook up straight into computer speakers? that probably won't work because the signal from turntables is quite low and you'll need some kind of pre-amp to get an audible signal. a mixer will do that when you've got that so you'll need to hook up your speakers into the output of the mixer. i imagine the input on those speakers is a 3.5mm jack so you'll probably need a phono to 3.5mm cable to connect from your mixer to the speakers and then it should work :)

Thanks man, thats what I thought but just wasn't too sure. Had a feeling it'd be a lot easier with the mixer so just plugged them into an old amp upstairs. :) Cheers to you and Shum for the good advice.

Back onto the mixer discussion. Decided againest the previous mixer mentioned and going with a Numark M2. Good choice for a beginner? Also, how is it possible for me to record from this mixer to the PC?

Thanks again! :)

Can't say I've ever used that mixer but it looks well suited for a beginner (its certainly miles better than the piece of crap I used when I started out lol).

As for recording to PC, a basic soundcard might look like this at the back:

You'll be wanting to plug the output of your mixer into the pink socket (microphone in) from the "Record" output on the back of your chosen mixer.

There are a couple of permutations when it comes to your final setup, but you'll have a better idea of how you want things once you have all your gear and start playing around with it.

This is the mixer that i started with. Quality little piece of kit i found it to be, no worries with it or nothing.

yeah its better to use the LINE IN, because the MIC iN has its own pre amp & this can fuck with the quality of ya signal! it will still work... but your better off getting a less coloured sound to record like!

yo what are the best budget cdj's to get? i've been dj'ing as a hobby for about a year now, using a controller. i reckon my next step is to learn cdj's, so i'm looking to grab some off ebay. i'd like to pay no more than $200 for each (so $400 for a pair), so obv 800's or 1000's are out (plus i dont need ones that good right now).

does anyone have experience with the Pioneer 100's or 200's ? are they perfectly suitable for learning cdj's?

thx in advance for any help

Good point, I mentioned Mic in because EVERY soundcard these days will have one for web chatting purposes. As for line in I'm not entirely sure.

TL:DR; plug your mixer into the blue socket if your soundcard has one, otherwise plug it into the pink one.
