I got a Saffire 6. Seems pretty reasonable. I was using a Behringer FC202 firewire soundcard before but have to say I can't notice a massive difference although I know the quality is way better. I would probably say if you want more options for the future tho to go with the Focusrite firewire as I think if I'm correct it can handle certain fx processing inside the unit itself which is pretty cool.

arn't the pres on the saffire 6 different than the standard pres in a saffire interface?

None of my computers have firewire natively and I wouldn't need it for anything else. Plus the fact I would have to add on the price of the firewire card to the device. And then also firewire could be put to bed by usb3. Even Mac's in the future may not have it natively so I opted for a USB2 device. The thing you have to watch is a lot of the lower priced interfaces are actually 1.1. You probably don't want that but then again if it's just a 2 in 2 out deal it may not matter. Torq Connective runs off of 1.1 but it's not going to be recording 24bit or anything like that.

so this is somewhat related and i didnt think it would b worth a whole new topic but im getting the edirol fa66 and i have to get a firewire pci card. is there any specific type i should get, like i heard texas instruments is better than ricoh or something
