I live in a lazy seaside village myself, always a shock when something like this happens. People are still talking about the murder that happened here back in 1994.

They found 4 Al Qaeda terrorists running operations out of the house next to mine. After that, it turned into a brothel. The house next to that belonged to a big English drug dealer who recently got nicked for a trunkful of a coke.

I remember some kid at my school who used to get picked up by bodyguards in massive American cars every day. One day a ton of crazy shit was going on surrounding this guy, and he later left the school. We later found out that the kid's dad had been arrested by interpol. He was on the CIA most wanted list (had his face on the deck of cards they give to marines) for dealing weapons in Iraq, and providing almost all the gear for the Bosnian war. It's crazy, because my mate had periodically gotten in fist fights with this dude.

Last week someone got shot in the head at a bar my mate used to work at. A couple years before that, while he was working there, some dude in a motorcycle helmet walked in and shot a guy full of 6 bullets. There's a ton more incidents between those two, but those are the ones I remember.

My other mate was across the street eating at a restaurant when some dude riding a motorcycle sprayed a submachine gun into a hair salon. They missed the dude they were trying to hit but killed a bodyguard, and hit a female hairdresser and an 11 year old kid.

They also found a bunch of washed up body bits and a couple Louise Vuitton luggage bags filled with pieces of corpse in the town outside of mine.

Up near my mum's mate's house about 10 -15 minutes away from my house. This bloke killed himself by setting himself on fire. People heard screaming and he jumped out of his bedroom window, on fire, then just thrashed around in the garden, screaming and burning.

Pretty much man. They've been cracking down though, since everything got out of hand.

The government's cleaned up as well. They found that they were stealing millions and millions of euros and finally, for the first time in years, put in a real government. The whole place is infamous for backhanders when dealing with planning permission for buildings, but since it's all been brought down, there's building skeletons all over the place. But yeh, our whole city was built by criminals escaping the British government, since there used to be no extradition laws, laundering money through massive building projects. Now, it's all been cleaned up - all that's left are a couple of Liverpudlian gangs who are currently at war, and people sent down to find guys hiding from criminal debts, rather than the police. Still, compared to a normal city, it's still the wild west. Every bar we know of obtains cheap stock by laundering money, and pays out bribes for different things. It's just the normal thing to do.

The crims spend their marked cash on buying stock for bars and restaurants, and then sells it back to them at a fraction of the cost. The money then gets spread out.

We've finally got to the age where we don't all take it for granted. When we were all little we didn't know any different, but now we look back at it from London and think "Damn, we came from a crazy ass place".

It's a massive MASSIVE social faux pas around here to ask anyone what their parents do for work. You'll usually get a squirmy answer.

there have been alot of shootings where i live over the last 2 years, the closest to me was about 4 blocks away. there was a brown guy who just got released from jail for serving a murder sentence and was living at this half way house. apparently there was a car with a guy parked out front all day every day casing the place, and then 2 days later the dude walked down the block to get a slice of pizza and 2 guys with masks emptied like 20 bullets into him in the middle of a crowded street and got away.

2 years before that there was 6 people murdered in an apartment 4 of which who were innocent but happened to be there and witnessed it so were killed. the other 2 were rival drug dealers or something. all of them were shot in the head at point blank with a silenced pistol by some crazy russian jacked up on drugs.

deep, my mate was in a bar once and this guy ran past it on fire screaming then rolled around in a big puddle before fucking off sharpish, got into some disagreement over a some kind of (probably fairly big) coke deal with the guy who ran the bar a few doors down, it's in herne hill as well which is a well posh area!

also someone was murdered in my street in Peckham during a domestic violence incident, and also in a street in Peckham where I'm trying to sell a house a guy was shot by two rival gang members and then put in a car which was then set on fire, the next day I got a phone call from the person buying the flat saying they were pulling out of the sale...

ah seen, my uncle used to live out that way, he's still got the house in fact so if I'm ever staying there again i'll come hit up your bar, and then we can spray bullets towards rival bars, whisky always makes me want to fight see
