i got a question for the nyc crowd. im gonna graduate college this year and i was thinking about moving to new york and trying to spin locally for a buck. im a solid dj, do college parties mostly though. think i stand a chance at booking some work or is the town uber-competitive?

know its the kind of question that doesnt have a good answer, but any opinions welcome.

hellfire machina wrote:So I think it's safe to say we just pulled off the biggest dubstep (if not bass music) party to date in NYC. People were literally hanging off the walls and speaker stacks at Webster Hall.

CASPA/ROD AZLAN/THE OTHERS/VIBESQUAD/ANTISERUM/POSI-D/TRAC/HELLFIRE MACHINA = Mayhem like I havn't seen for a long long time.

And a special shout out to Kenny, Tom at GBH and the rest of the behind the scenes people that make this happen. The stage security really earned their money tonight, MAXIMUM RESPECT!

I truly love this city.....

THANK YOU NEW YORK!
that was insane. like from doors-opening insane. the lineup was mad outside: roadblock tings!

respect for making it happen!
D

such a great night!
and yeah the doors were insane, i got on line at 11:45 and didn't get in until 12:45

totally worth it though

just off the top -

in the last few weeks there was scuba, hudson mohawke and rustie, ikonika, untold, plastician, martyn, and i KNOW i'm missing a bunch

and just this coming weekend there's Mount Kimbie, Egyptrixx, Caspa, Fantastic Mr Fox/Cooly G/Dusk&Blackdown.

what the fuck

and all that without a dubwar in months ..
I like how all those DJs are from the UK :)
I know right... it's almost as if dubstep were invented in the UK.

For the Webster shows I would highly recommend getting in line at 10pm. Our room doesn't open until 11.45 so u may as well spend time waiting before it opens than when it opens. Vibesquad played 12-1 and totally killed it, don't miss the first sets, there not warm ups, showstoppers all night ya heard!

We're launching a new party this friday at the Sullivan Rooms called 'One Family' - deep dubstep, future garage, drumstep, drum and bass. 21+

Come and say hello if you make it out!
