dubstep = house and/or juke, right?
i really couldn't care less about the heavier-than-the-nex-tune world, but the stuff that interests me (or the artists that interest me) seem to be moving in more of a broken house way, or a really emotive, melodic, intense way.
thus, dubstep is either Bugz in the Attic or NYC Deep house in halftime...
that reminds me.. I gotta book this guy before he blows up!

In artists like Lights, Owl City, and all those synth-pop artists you can see a taste of how this genre has influenced modern day mainstream music for the ones who are into more acoustic sounding things.
And Dub-Step also has made it's presence known in a lot of screamo type artists, you know?
As well as a lot of the stuff that's on KIIS FM and stuff.
I mean, my little cousin had a 13th birthday party and one of the little girls that were there had tons of candy on her wrists.
But they're 13? So I said "I like your bracelets." I think it's tacky looking tbh. she said thanks so i asked her where she got them, and she got them at Claire's.
Middle schoolers are starting to dress like they're at a concert to school. My friend's little sister was dressed head to toe in rasta colors and wearing a tutu the other day. And it just makes me wonder about what's cool to little kids these days.
I think that this scene is having an influence on what's trending in America.
I only wonder why it's taken so long.
(but i fucking love that that girl isn't dressed like skank.)

Question is where is EDM going. I predict it becoming very easy to sample for free at high quality. I recon computers will make it much easier for people who dont know how to play instruments or have zero experience. Basically, monkeys will be able to make music on a computer that sounds like a full orchestra
You will be able to push one key on a keyboard and it plays a full guitar riff and people will look back at the days humans had to play instruments in their hands.

I partly disagree here, it is a fact that the "rest" of the world in 90% follow on to the work of UK & USA producers... Before 15 years or so the information was coming really slowly here, so we often had bands and producers that were making the sound that was "out" like 10 years ago in the USA or UK (there are exceptions of course), but as the time passes, the Internet is becoming an instant information tool and it's easier to keep in tact with the rest of the world, especially the ones that call themselves the "leaders" . I guess that the only original idea that came from the eastern europe was Balkan beat stuff, but still that was built on the foundation of music originated in UK & USA... Don't like the balkan beat stuff though...
but who knows what future brings us... no one can predict that. I personally would like to see people learning to listen music with their mind and soul, not just their legs and arms...

Huh? Did you just say Europe is/has been ahead of UK in music? what like DnB, Jungle and Acid House and this thing we call Dubstep? starts here and artists in Europe tend to try make their own version of it and most of it sounds terrible. Dont get me wrong there was some amazing music coming out of Holland, Belguim and Germany. But Eastern Europe?! are you on crack? cannot think of a single genre or artist that is worth mentioning coming from there.
What is next level, noise and shit loads of automation? they are good at making music no one can dance to I give them that
