Holy fucking dog, 4 of the songs in his EP now have places in the top 10! I've never seen that before in my life

Since when did Sonny Moore come into such fame?

this thread is jokes.
i won't 100% hate on beatport, i copped some sick tunes from that place (xi and subeena) to name a few.
but for the majority of dubstep...nah son.
i enjoy digging through their downtempo and nu-jazz sections. always gems in there.

Mr Oizo got it right on twitter the other day:

Am I wrong in thinking that it's not an easy feat to get a new label on beatport these days?

No effing clue. One day I hear an Alejandro remix in a bar, the next my friends are telling me we're going to see him on tour.
I think that a lot of electro fans and also his emo fanbase that followed him through his transition have combined to create instant hype surrounding him, likely far larger than all of dubstep's collective fanbase put together.

It's pretty difficult these days. I went through an aggregate to make it happen, after our first application was rejected. Even then, you have to hit a minimum amount in sales per year (or maybe quarter?) to stay on.
I think they received enough complaints that there was too much rubbish to dig to find anything of value, so they made it harder to jump on board. Just my guess.

It also doesn't hurt that Skrillex has a personality, and doesn't just blankly stare at what he's doing the entire time like some kind of calculus substitute teacher in high school.

An emo singer-turned-electro artist.
Lots of people like the tunes he's making right now.

Sorry, can't tell if you're being sarcastic, but yeah, what I was referring to is the brand that he puts forth. It's much more in accordance with a rock star (ie: the shaved head, the pierced lip, the attitude, the high performance energy), and such, I think people are more likely to treat him like a rockstar.
I'm just hypothesizing as to his sudden rise to fame.
