Techs tend to have some really smooth faders I find.
Everyone likes the P&G faders in the A&H mixers.
BUT the Ecler Hak series and Mackie d.2 have contactless magnetic faders that will live longer than you will, and are VERY VERY VERY SMOOTH!!
My personal feel is that Vestax have made decent faders, but they're subpar now that everyon is using P&G.
Stanton use P&G on thier higher end mixers too. Thier gear is worth checking out, especially if price is an issue. Thier gear is generally really well built on the upper end, but I find it's alot less intuitive, and the layouts are generally ho-hum. Good concepts (ie focus concept mixer) but in application can be a touch painful. If it's your mixer you'll learn it tho.

says in some places the d4 comes with a copy of traktion too. but wouldnt you need some sort of turntable interface as well though? to be able to mix mp3's?

theres a rane ttm serato edition that has serato built in
all you need is control vinyls as far as i know
its expensive though
but rane faders have best build life and warranty over all other mixers

The D4 has a firewire interface and built in sound card, so you just plug it into your computer and then the audio goes straight to the channel.
See how it's got the little traktor logo on the line/phono switch?
That's killer.

PS rane faders are P&G faders, which are the best contact fader.
And they have better wear than any other contact fader. Better feel than any other contact fader (or so most think)
This doesn't mean that they are the best fader, or that they have better wear than any other fader.
Contactless Magnetic are the best wearing fader, because there is no wear. They will last pretty much forever. Optics are similar, but smoke and dust can interfere. Hope you can see why you might want to consider Hak or D2!! I think that the Mackies actually have a tension control for the fader as well, so that you can actually adjust how the fader feels! Might be on the Hak. Can't remember.
RANE is definately top level shit tho. No doubt about it.

TTM-57SL, or the TTM-56 if you can't afford the 57 or don't want to use Serato. I don't like DJ'ing on Xone's at all - is the 62 the giant star trek-panel looking contraption with 4 mic inputs that doesn't have curve control on the cross fader? That is pure garbage that they can exclude something as crucial as curve control on the fader.
