notts57 wrote:What does everyone think of the current state Dubstep is in? I'm going to put my own views on this... In my opinion, Dubstep has already seen a slight downfall in regard to it's original sound, I personally love (as you'd probably gather from my posts so far) Digital Mystikz's old sound, aswell as artists such as Noah D and Slaughter Mob... With all this noisy stuff coming through, where do you think Dubstep will be in the next few years? Will it do a D&B and die, and then come back again? Or could it do a breakbeat and die altogether? Obviously I'm asking these questions based on my opinions but feel free to comment.
its a good question. ive kinda seen a downslope in dubstep for a while, but i can still wonder on the strip and find random ravers that say that dubstep is there favorite.

i just think that dubstep needs its new generation, a new set of artists, that are gonna produce something good, cause ive seen alot of crap come out, and saddly, some people on this forum site still say that its the shit....

man i love dubstep, but you got to know what a song just doesnt got it.

lots of new but not necessarily good or better styles of music emerging, with people claiming its the future of everything... When in my humble opinion they're just pale imitations of styles long since past and previously written off. Dubstep's future is bright as long as there's real artists pushing their thing and punters are there to soak it up. It riles me a little bit where some are quick to cuss it off as a whole, when really they have a hidden agenda to push something of their own as 'better' - new isn't always better! It's just different!

it will evolve further once people realize they're all making electronic music and there's a huge spectrum of sounds and ways to convey sounds that people have not yet fucked with.

it's cyclical, this has happened in the 80's, 90's and 00's, now it's about to happen in the 10's. you are not the only one who thinks this way, you're just as hung up on what people call shit as all the people who talk about what is or isn't dubstep... boring, imo
