blackdown calls it "130bpm",

but there is lot of that sound at 140 and 120, so im sure ppl will complain.

Wot u call it gets my vote. Or what about 'bass' - that's also common name for this music.

i think that's the point. better to borrow something from before than create something entirely new

that kind of describes the music too really heh

it doesn't, it's all easily identifiable for what it is.
you want to call people like deadboy and julio bashmore what you call it? it's house and garage

1. room 2
2. house
3. 120-130bpm or whatever. 120-135 if you will.

i think room 2 is good.

indeed, even if it's not in the purest sense of the term, it's still more house or garage than anything else. plus if we all think a bit about who's actually gonna be nominated for the various awards of this section, they'll all probably just fit in that.

i'm sure you've all seen how unreasonably upset and ungrateful people can be on this forum about the most minor of things. the amount of anger from some people just at creating this sub-forum was unreal so i think it would be sensible to make it clear to people that the award at least has a grounding in dubstep
hackman wrote:you want to call people like deadboy and julio bashmore what you call it? it's house and garage
i think we're going to have to accept the fact that we aren't going to get a term that pleases all parties 100%. it's such a broad and varied spectrum of different influences and styles that any term is going to be slightly wrong for one side of things

i dunno, it's a tricky one but we're going to need to make a decision one way or the other

I dont see how it can be looked past 'House and Garage' to be fair thats what it is, surely.

I know nothing about Dubstep, was never into it massively, i was a casual listener and only really listened to it on the Worldwide show, but its history lies in Garage, whos history lies in House.

Why do people from the other forum see it like that and want to kick up a fuss and be elitist?

Its a case of pot>kettle>black, seeings as their favoured genre evolved in exactly the same way as this genre has.

H&G FTW. :4:
