The mobo is the most common used for budget based hackintosh's i know that you can make a hackintosh with the intel i5 and i7 processors but you have to have a different mobo and use a different install. From the research the built in graphics card will work fine, which ill use to set it up. Then got a kext for the graphics card. However some people have said the Asus Nvidia 9400 gt will just work from the go. We will have to see.

Update 2 PSU Install

So the PSU is here, 350 watts, and has the two power cables for the Sata drives.

Before you buy your PSU use a wattage calculator online, where you enter your mobo, GFX card, processor etc to work out what watt PSU you need. ( What a mouth full )

So here is the PSU in place, it just slides in and clips into the case.



Next just put the screws into the back.



Now plug the main power cable into the mobo.



Then plug the two sata power cables in to your HD and DVD drive.



So now everything should look like this



And one last cable to goto the lower of the Mobo ( Might need an extension for this as it was tight )



Now just got to get the Ram, Processor and GFX card

i'd recommend getting some arctic silver and looking up the proper usage of it for your processor/heatsink

Can I just say I like how modest this set up is as well... Most people doin' their own hackintosh's tend to over kill and spec towards the mac pro side of things.

Didnt want to go out and waste £800 on a project, Thought Id do a budget build as a test/ winter project. Then maybe if i need to upgrade i can do so.

Small update anyways. SNOW has fucked the post up, was -20 here the other night ( Yes im in the UK ) and we have like 10 inches of snow haha, still waiting for the CPU to come

Sick project mate, but windows is pretty awesome nowadays

yeah this is a lot easier than it used to be, I got OSX running pretty well on my AMD based box with a couple of nights work... runs pretty well! just having issues with minor things like spotify refusing to log in, and skype crashing it occasionally... but these things are distractions anyway!

Windows might be getting nicer, but until Windows can run logic, theres always gonna be a good reason for doing this on the music production side of things! I just wish I had built an intel box instead of AMD, looks like with intel you can get it running pretty much perfectly now!

Ok got OSX 10.5.6 running like a charm, logic works amazingly using my external usb Line 6 Toneport interface. Going to put together the next update on everything, Then hopefully upgrade to Snow Leopard.
