kanye west in the popular music world is another good example of this
has some cool beats, some cool projects but he's so pretentious and full of himself that it takes away from the end product

Just this week I did a canvas with nothing on it and composed a piece of music with no sound in 7 movements. I'm not trying to bite Rauschenberg and Cage, it's just that sometimes society needs a mirror held up to itself. Duchamp made me do it....

Seeming as I start this name calling I will expand on what I ment by a "art cigarette".

An "art cigarette" to me is a pretentious twat how thinks they are the dogs bollocks, and has a art degree to prove it, but if only they could get their heads out of their arse for a minute they would realise what art is about. Art is not about having greater meaning, the only meaning art has is enjoyment for the creator and/or viewer. Art cigarettes try to make art in to some think more intelligent, they use strange words, and metaphors and similes to make their work have some deep more intelligent meaning, and to make them self look clever. When "art cigarettes" watch porn they get off on the fact that they guy is slaming the chick hard, because is a metaphor for who we live in a male dominate world, not because they would like to nail her. "Art cigarettes" listen to flylo, because his music is mocks how music has been came so ridged and correct. ect...

Look at that women how did not make her bed, and won a prize, it was because of all this shit art critics said, about it being a symbol for all this bollocks... Me "no dude she just lazy like me, and did not make her bed, WOW.

Being a "art cigarette" you can not tell how art, and science are two very different things. Untill you can understand this, I will not explane to you why anyone can call someone a "art cigarette".

EDIT: The track in my sig is called time, this is because time is always ticking, and we don't know how or when it would end, and what would happen. The snapping (ticking) beat represents a clock ticking, it is slightly warped to give the felling that it could stop at any minute. The bass represents ones self, when it drops out in the middle this is about viewing a world with out ones self in it, something that most people find very difficult. the fade out at the end represents everlastingness, and that time will never end just change.

TL DR: Art cigarettes spend more time talking/writing about art then making art, I wounder why?........

I take it, you're talking about Tracey Emin's 'My Bed'.

Its not that hard to explain really... She made an instillation of something personal to her every day life, it shows what kind of environment she lives in has sentimental objects... Modern art has turned into showing things what makes the artist reflect...This does it perfectly.

Just like a writer using their own life as inspiration of how a scene happens.

Just like a musician will tap into a certain time or place and use that moment to create music.

I hate people who throw the "art-cigarette" word about because its just a bit silly, if someone is happy with who they are, what they do and how they do it... Why does it bother you?

It makes you just as bad as a racist or someone who has homophobia. Demeaning those because they're different from you.

Appreciate everything, everyone and be happy with yourself because these "pretentious art cigarettes" are, so maybe you could learn from them!
