yea i'm slowly making it proper format etc, that's half the reason i'm slow with updates. don't just wanna do random chatter and format like i do on here

It's interesting though, the amount of producers has proliferated over the last several years. Due in no small part the availability and accessibility of production software. Everybody wants the same thing, to get their tunes out there and heard. I think it's probably harder now than it ever was.

I know a guy who is club owner at this venue in Hollywood and I'm good friends with him, he has asked me to send over some mixes but I never did since I was too high to remember his e-mail address.

there are the proper channels and methods that people on here can attest to though
there are also those annoyances that are flash in the pan and just generally as prolific as a broken condom as well

I disagree with the disagree. Depone has it straight. I never saw him doing all this stupid shit on facebook and sound cloud and yet he has multiple vinyl releases. In fact I can't recall any of the big names going crazy with the spam and demanding attention. I also have never seen these spammers blow up and really make something of themselves. I am sure there are examples and if you can come up with them fantastic but my point stands. I really do think if your shit is good enough people will find you. Now promotion tactics may take mediocre talent to the next level but do you really want to be that guy? Sadly a lot of folks do. Just chill I say. Spend the time on the beats not on the "streets".

I'm kind of on the fence here, its a tricky situation indeed.

Say you have been producing for a few years and not really promoted yourself because you were waiting for the time when you thought
"yeah actually, my tunes are pretty decent I wanna get myself out there"
You are then confronted with the dilemma of what to do next... do you go and send your stuff to lots of people and try and get a buzz going?
Do you send it to a few people with maybe a slightly bigger influence, knowing that they would be less likely to listen to it because of all of the other people sending them music?
Or do you just wait for the world to come to you?
It is a conundrum indeed and I don't think that any one way is right or wrong...

...however the "being chased by down the high street" idea is a stroke of genius...

There is a difference between not spamming and doing absolutely nothing though. You need to have some level of self promotion. Making beats by yourself and not telling anyone won't achieve anything.

yea but there has to be a balance of behind the scene work and networking, exclusive tunes you don't toss up everywhere etc
not just popping every lil thing you make on soundcloud etc and spamming it to hell and back
a lot of people need to learn to exercise some amount of quality control over their own work before it hits the next step of sharing with anyone else
also if you've only been producing for a little while do yourself and the world a service and keep your tracks to yourself until you get to a decent level
unless you're some sort of prodigy sending those tunes about or having all over the place will bite you in the ass later on

I have just noticed this one on facebook. I don't notice a lot because I have like 2k people on the list but recently I have noticed a few of these. Put a pic of a chick as your profile pic and a chick name and then post dubstep youtubes and shit all day. Kinda clever actually but not I am going to have to shit can a couple of these "freinds" heheh
