Great advice in this thread, not much to add really, apart from a golden rule I was told a long time ago by a long time promoter... namely always work to a maximum costs budget of 50% of the club's legal- (not what the owner tells you he can get in there) capacity x the door tax. 60% MAX> Any more and imho its financial suicide (certainly in the long term), altho to be honest if you're bothered about losing money/looking to make money gop and do something else. Underground/small scale promotions is a labour of love I reckons :D

@ Bob- that mate, is a wicked and diverse line up! One that we (Inprint) would be proud to put on! We've had Bizzy down at technicality a few times, and all the artists on yer bill there are fookin spot on.

See now there's a good eg of a quality, and original line up- imho thats the kind of thing a new night wants to achieve in this saturated world we live in.

Definately some fine points been made in this thread...I wish id read this before i started promoting again lol!

The main thing i can say is if there isnt any scene as such in your area, be prepared to lose cash....either that or convince someone rich to bankroll you :D

INVEST

Lose money the first time
Lose less money the second time
Break even the third time
Make money the fourth

That's business.

nice 1 man, thanks! :D :D

am really trying to make interesting line ups with each Square Roots, not just your standard halftep all night, thats definately one of the most important things for us. Haha sayin that we have ahd Deapoh and Ital Tek play at the last 2 gigs as well!

I think Yardcore are putting on the most interesting nights in the uk at the moment tbh...there line ups are always mindblwoing and i still havent bloddy been to one!

your ngiht looks big btw Neil, nice 1
