wow everybody goin off the handle on a dang weed comment. wasn't sayin everybody who likes dubstep smokes neither. just a general guideline as to how chill a person is. don't know to many people who listen to dubstep, and don't enjoy a little grass. and usually together at that, really brings out the bodily vibrations of the bass out and ya'll can't deny that.

so i'll just assume everyone who commented on that is anti-green? gotta be or you wouldn't your panties in a bunch over a little comment.

I already read that thread when it was posted. I suppose your right though. This was just something that repeatedly comes up and its not like its one person. It's just about every person I know

She's just ignorant about music. I've been trying to educate her but when she can name about as many artist as she has fingers it's kind of a lost cause. She's just not bothered about music if that makes sense (YES there are people like that, fucking werid init?) But you talk to her about business law or politics and she lights up like a christmas tree.

I made a massive generalisation. when i say 'people', what i mean is 'the majority of people'.
i'm in the same boat as you, especially with metal lol (theres some i enjoy)

using your example tho, some people will listen to metal and instantly discard it as noise, without even seeing what the artists are coming from or aiming at with their sound. they listen to music from a purely pop perspective without realising that music depends as much on the passive response of the listener as it does the musician. and then they assume that this is a deficiancy on the musicians part, not a failure of their perception to see the beauty in whatever it is.

but you can consciously change the frequency.

This, I used to get wound up by other peoples tastes, then I decided that people are just different - some people like boring predictable bullshit and some people like novelty to varying degree's. If you've spent your life listening to 4 - 4 music your gunna be at least a little off guard when you hear jazz. I found it quite difficult to get into hip hop when I was a teenager because it was just very different to what I thought was music at the time, now i think some of it's pretty nice to listen too - and I quite like novelty.
