This.

Dubstep started as always forward thinking sub bass heavy music, each producer with quite different takes on it before it ever even really had a name/formula was when it was really exciting for me, looses a lot of it appeal to me when it sticks to tried and tested formulas (especially the really formulaic stuff with hardly any real sub bass...looses the whole point of dubstep to me).

But there are plenty on the more techno/drumstep/future garage/house -'post dubstep' producers that are making amazing original stuff.
couldn't agree more man, it's just annoying that i get a load of shit when try and explain that to my friends who listen to nothing but bait youtube crap (like I'm the dick for trying to expand their horizons)

btw that tune in ur sig is fire!

Dubstep is a part of the music I listen to, rather than the main thing, so will be a while yet before I get bored, if ever :e:

not getting bored of dubstep in terms of what i classify the sound to be. still loads of great music about, the only part suffering in creativity in my opinion is Filth (note i don't mean jump up). cant see this having a long shelf life to be fair

Yes, not on the floor. But I am bored of listening to it at home or in the private domain so to speak.

What has been labelled 'post dubstep', also known as "DSF House?" dubstep ( :dunce: ) is where I'm currently venturing more and more. The new wave of Garage is interesting. Old Apparatus will bring a whole new dimension as well.
Dance floor dub still does what it is supposed to do though : fill up the floores. hardly listen to that anymore at home though (accept for the classics and some of the usual players such as DMZ, Chestplate, Tectonic, Tempa...).

As someone said, once it becomes all too formulaic, it becomes a banal affair, which can be fun but is not challenging at all to listen, discover, expand your horizon, etc... : important aspect of music imho.

Exactly, I enjoy hearing new textures and it just doesn't seem to be cutting it any more. There are exceptions of course, but the more hyped up stuff is growing stale.

Go listen to something else then...

Really isn't that hard! :corntard:

I personally do, but I'm commenting on this thread because I still like a lot of the music people show on here.

I hadn't heard FlyLo or BoC before I started lurking here. Plus as I said it's not all terrible, there are artists that are making my ears prick up still.

James Blake, Mount Kimbie and a lot of the producers that actually post here.

Dubstep is amazing right now, if your bored...go listen to something else and then come back.

Me personally, loving it.

I think that's what most people are saying :). It implies though that dubstep can become boring at times, just like your girlfriend. Doesn't mean you don't love her any more, just need a different girl to remind you of how good your girlfriend really is...and so the love affair gets rekindled

Problem with that theory though is, with dubstep...I can move to other music and still come back to it. I can't try it with some different lasses and expect my lass to be waiting there when I finally realised how good I had it!

Moral of the story, power through the hard times and find new and exiting things both with your other half and your current musical genre of choice. :Q:

The Prodigy's gonna come out with some dubstep soon so that's gonna change up the scene quite a bit (I hope).

That prodigy track sounded pretty fuckin' hard, i think it can only be a good thing if prodigy get on it as they are big enough to take it to a new heights whilst still remaining credible

As long as these cats in this shindig keep at it making the magic, I could easily see eight years. No problem there. :Q:
