Yup.

I always thought Spongebob was the cause of Brostep, not saying it's a brostep track. It was just one of those tracks that took the midrange sound to the ultimate at the time. Nobody heard anything like it and people just wanted to beat it. But they really haven't.

Well Rusko certainly helped it move along.

I always thought Brostep was that mechnical 'YOY YOY YOY YOYOYOYOYOY' pig grunt nonsense that producers such as Borgore make.

To my mind Rusko never produced that, he does do generic wobble stuff occasionally and generally creates a more commercial-friendly sound. But not Brostep tracks where the idea is add as many beeps and bloops as possible.

Tracks Rusko made back in the day (Jahova, Lions Paw, Soundguy is my target, Action Dread, Tru powwa, Born to do it and Rock Bottom with Caspa, Love is real...) are so amazing that they give him the credit to say or do anything. I mean, some of those tracks single-handedly overpower a lot of output from actually good producers even today. In spite of that, I think producers shouldn't get in the middle of this at all.
Concerning brostep, it's pretty familiar to everyone that music is a reflection of a certain culture and way of life. So it's not that odd that dubstep took the form it took in the USA. Just as they took punk to it's biggest possible extreme and created hardcore, it's logical that they would enjoy brostep the most because, as I said, it's something in their culture that drives them towards extremes, always has been.

Bigups Rusko, always been a fav producer of mine but I've always prefered his Dubbier stuff, Traget n so on.. The "Rusko" bass which was rapped by cirus I wasnt so into. Some of the tunes were fun but after 3 plays just irritating!

I 'personally' hate what rusko stands for in dubstep and i think its rubbed off on caspa who is 'imo' a shit load better than rusko but i still dont rate that much, i wont deny ruskos made some beats that are definately professional well made and well hey the guys made it practically (got big all that jazz) but i hate everything about him, and would love to stop hearing his name and that gay homophobe. term brostep.

If you like his dubbier stuff its all about roma, best tune hes ever done in my opinion,epic when the horns come in, you can well hear the irration steppas influence he used to have

Much love and respect to Rusko. He was the first person to really get me into dubstep, so without him I probably wouldn't be listening to DMZ and Kode9 and all that other epic stuff. I have since stopped listening to a lot of his stuff when I'm in a "dubstep mood" (unless it came out during/before 2007). You sorta just gotta take it for what it's worth. O.M.G. was hyphie and fun, but certainly not your rootsy beautiful dubstep. But what I really love about Rusko is that you can tell that he still has his inner dub in him, as shown by tracks like "District Line." That little clip the OP posted actually removed a lot of my doubts regarding O.M.G. II.
