Slightly better reference on how it looks / the size, blablablabla

Image

Look at those luscious motherfucking biceps.

I've been waiting and designing a tattoo for a massively long time and never really got round to it. This wasn't any of the ones I designed.

The Truth
Will I regret it? Probably
Do I get moments where I'm like ohshitwhathaveidonetomybeautifulbody? Yes
Give a fuck right now? Not particularly.

Here's a long ass story you probably also don't give a fuck about:

The story is, my friend was put on a waiting list for a really long time for this artist, who flew in from LA. When he was getting it done, I was talking with the guy, and he asked me to bring down some of my sketches to see, since we got along pretty well. I mentioned I might want to get a tat. I went down with my mate the next day so he could take a photo for his portfolio, and just brought all my sketches and a big bunch of scrap, in the last moment, I grabbed the needle from my deck, just in case. After seeing the amazing work he did on my two mates, I was really starting to think about it. When I got there he was looking through all the stuff I brought and said "yeh, you should get that tatoo'd (the needle)". I said cool, and he replied with "yeh, I'll be ready in 15 minutes", to which I was like "whaaaat?" and started panicking a bit. He came back with the designs, and I told him I wanted it a bit bigger than life on my bicep. He ended up saying that for the same price he'll do it quite a bit bigger on my forearm. I got nervous and started dictating all the colours that I wanted it, etc, and he gave me a poker face and said "look dude, this is what I do for a living; do you trust me?", so I just rolled with it. The only thing I decided was the blue background.

tl;dr: My mate spent a long time on a waiting list for some big tattoo artist from LA. His tattoo came out amazing. When I went in with him the day after, I told the artist that I wanted to get tattood in the future . He then told me he'd be ready in 15 minutes. I battled with diarrhea the entire time it was being done

TADAAAAAA

Not my type of tattoo, but hats off to you for committing to a decent sized piece.
I like the color.

Firky, just let an artist draw something up for you.
He's not going to be offended if you don't like it. I've found that artists tattoo better when they have drawn a design they're happy with.

nice one hayze!

the longer you spend thinking about a tattoo, the less likely you'll get it.

if it was my arm, I probably wouldn't have got it done.

I don't see the point in objects like these, but I do see some sense in having some reference to someone in your family etc...

Meh. I don't really get family members, or black and white tats, or even words for that matter - all those things are keenly stuck in my heart and don't need to be printed on my body.

For me, it's simply adornment. It's a way to change and evolve my body and make it look nice. Coming from a cartooning/graffiti background, I've always been fond of bright colours and geometry, so I want to reflect that on my body. The fact that it's a needle is just that it's what's most involved in my life. If I found a meaningless geometric piece that depicted nothing, but looked beautiful, I would have been just as fond of it.

I would rather have nothing on my skin than some dreary grayscale - I want some warpaint

It's also looking at the mirror and thinking - wow, my body is changing. Impermanence blablablabla.

I want to get something like this on the other arm:

And for the rest that I plan to get in the near future (already thinking on it), I'm going to get some of my cartoon artwork.

GWA: I saw your leg sleeve a while back at SNR and honestly thought it was amazing - one of the best I've seen.
Firky: Yup, it's covering up a bunch of pipes and shit. Ghetto.

Nice tat Hayze, wasn't too sure from the first picture. I guess I have a phobia of overly robotic looking things. Please don't get the full robot sleeve! Only kidding, but that really aint my cup of tea at all.

Not really a fan of sleeves but that robot tat looks quite good I think. I wouldn't want it on me though.

Family doesn't last for ever, turntable parts do.
