No, not you, at least from this thread. Just the scene tards who think brostep is hurting their scene, or that it's badly produced, among tons of other things. Overall people here are big-headed and think their scene, the boxes they put themselves in, and their music is somehow "better" than the things that catch the masses' eye, and more annoyingly, that anything mainstream is automatically bad.

And yes I adore lady gaga, her music, and just about anything about her

yeah but their are plenty of producers out there who use simple drum patterns yet manage to make them sound much more syncopated and rhythmic, jakes is a perfect example, he uses a simple kick snare in every tune yet his tracks have the most bite out of a lot of producers out there

joker is another example, yet he uses a bunch more kick drums placed closer together to get that bouncy feel, same with benga.

I myself choose not to use the term as it's too vague to understand. For me, dubstep can only be split into two categories: stuff I like and stuff I don't. It is funny how that name stuck tho... What a bunch of nerds we are

That's a wicked term!!
For me, when I use a term to describe the music I love to people or when i'm advertising myself as a dj I always say I love bass music. The term comfortably fits any kind of bass music that way and I can avoid the embarresment of a conversation along these lines:

"dude you like dubstep yeah?"

"Yeah"

"ahh sick, wob wob, all about skrillex and that sound bruv"
(guy is silenced after I go chuck Norris on his ass)

The music that makes me feel most at home is nice eyes down bass music, the stuff where you can close your eyes and litterally be moved by the bass. There's a time and a place for, "brostep" and I like it in that time and place but not outside of that.

'brostep' to me is jump up gone to far... the others, coki, subscape, lost, jakes, kromestar, skream etc make good jump up, which has alot of diversity and production value.

'brostep' is just the same recycled sounds, basic beat, high pitched synths, robot noises... with the only real differentiation being the way these sounds are arranged.

but maybe its like bassline in the days of UKG.. it blew up, got saturated with generic wobble and died. i can see history repeating itself

haha robot farts. i find it a sort of sludgey mess tbh, when you're out at a proper night you just skank along to the riddim but when it comes to this 'brostep' it's just (in my opinion) an incoherent noisy mess. there's no proper beat or groove to it which is what i hate the most. and because you cant exactly skank to it, teenagers think it's fun to mosh because of it's aggressive style. fuck that.

Dubstep is bass music. Brostep is more like fidget house with the kick/snare placement & tempo of dubstep. Dubstep came about as a reaction to dance music cranking it's knob to 11. To pull back and experiment without churning out the next soul destroying banger. Music that doesn't try so hard to move mountains, but does so anyway by not trying so hard. Easy enough?

I have to say I'm into the whole 'brostep' wubwub sound, but then again I used to be into metal (and still am to a lesser extent). I am going to see skrillex and I can't wait. I think you guys are underestimating his production skills.

I'm not trying to change your views, i respect them but you should learn to respect other people and theirs. Stereotyping people who listen to a type of music that isn't your cup of tea is a bit childish, don't ya think? Music evolves and dubstep is a perfect example of that.

Production skills and personal taste aside. Listen to and play whatever you like. Incorporating new elements into a sound might be considered an evolution if those elements were not the complete epitome of what dubstep was trying to get away from when it started. I can respect someone's opinion and views. Just tired of this epidemic of wastemen trying to tell people a circle is a square.

to me, brostep is just a tune without any ryhythm its like someone yelling at you instead of a groove
