All just depends on the standard of the girls chat

Was once seeing a girl who never had anything interesting to say, just "wot u up 2?" "wot u doin now?" and to reply to this would result in a series of shite mundane texts and I seriously couldn't handle it. Didn't last long surprisingly.

Girl i'm with now texts like a demon and i'm now quite into it cos the chat is actually decent. Makes a days work go in much quicker, especially when the chat gets dirty!

I'm so detached from my phone I think I still have messages from last year that I need to reply to. It's always in silent mode, so I go half a day without checking it. I just barely checked it now since I was reminded by this post. I think my last bf had issues with it cos I would only text every couple of days. He always asked, "are we okay?", but I was always making surprise visits and bringing shit I made for him, that were probably thrown away now, except maybe the mixtapes. That's just my personality though, cos I send snail mails/care packages more than emails.

Texts are lame. I would rather have a guy show up unannounced and tell me he misses me (especially if it was a couple of train rides). Action always validates a point.

This is totally true. And for that texting is dope. Like, if you couldn't reply to a text, that would be perfect. Texting should be a one way street. If you have to go back and forth, 9/10 voice is the easier/quicker/less dipshitted way to do it.

I don't even have a txt plan on my phone. I forget what it was supposed to cost, too much whatever it was. Fucking insulting that I can use a grip of bandwidth for voice and data, but they want to squeeze nickles out of completely negligible bandwidth texts. Which is why I think people like texting so fucking much. It's like I paid for unlimited, I'm going to get my money's worth.

But, I have to pay a dime every time someone texts me. Every time, I'm like, "that piece of information cost me a dime, fuck you."

I only call my close mates to ask about dinner or small stuff like that, and I text everyone else. just means i dont have to drop everything to have a conversation with someone. That might just be me because I cant do anything when im talking on the phone. Obviously there are times when I'll call someone, if its something important or if I need to fill some time when im walking somewhere. Also I have unlimited texts which is a bonus

firstly, the "20 minutes and you're ignoring me" is a problem with your women, not texting - they need to chill out.
also, why is a short worded message something to waste so much energy over? Some things don't need the length and effort of a phone call to be discussed, sometimes you jus wanna say a little thing, or you cant talk at that moment, or whatever.
i completely agree with ahier. texting is only tool, its ONLY a TOOL. not a way of life hahaha

Over the past 7-8 months I have had to force myself to text because of my girl and write stupid responses back and forth, and god forbid if I don't text a response back within the next 20 minutes i'm ignoring her. I tell her if you want to talk, call me when you can TALK, don't text me about stupid shit.

Whatever happened to the phones that were shaped like a brick, had a long battery life, and didn't have texting capabilities? I would drop money on one.

(other than land line)
The only people who are really obsessed with them are the generation who grew up with them already being there. I remember the good times before mobile phones and meeting people at Festivals through military clockwork planning that never worked. 8)

I fucking hate pointless texting back n forth - although admittedly I have done it when I have been angling for a shag.

This. I also think its uncomfortable using the phone in public for the most part, so I have no problem with texting most of the time, since I'm hardly ever home.

texting is the way to go. calling usually occupies you during the length of the call, a text you can reply and send whenever you want. i believe calls are only for urgent business like "where you at?" and stuff like that. it also a lot cheaper and you actually have a chance to think about what you're going to say and rephrase it before you send it, that way you appear more interesting and intelligent than you actually are, the way of the hectic late 00's. :6:

Rather cynically, one of the pre installed text message templates on my phone is "I love you too".
