it's not the criticism that's the problem - it's the way that it's usually done. it's still possible to be polite whilst you're saying that you don't like something instead of the usual "this is shit" type comments
the atmosphere on this forum has taken a massive negative downturn largely because there's so many rude people saying how much they hate things, calling newbies stupid, trying to prove how much better they are than everyone and just generally making the place pretty toxic for everyone else
THIS! Badger your like the new Seckle
And tacospheros I'm pretty sure a lot of producers have day jobs bro! I know I do, 9-5 then 6-2am in studio! And while we're at it... Pretty sure you dont support the music you moan about otherwise you would be a fool lol

Seriously though, what actually started all this childish bullshit? There's tears from here to twitter, and all interwebs in between.

Yeah, its annoying as hell...
@taco: you've been here long enough to know what happens to moaning threads. Have you ever seen one that didn't end in the same old argumets & name calling? If that's your bag, have at it. It's your decision what you want to do with your time & voice. As for me, life is busy. If I took the time to talk about all the stuff I hate about dubstep, I would have to quit my job so I can sit here and preach from the soapbox that is our tiny little community. IRL, I have a full time job, am full time schooling and have a full time wife that leaves enough time for me to come on here, learn about some new tunes, mixes, artists, etc and leave some coments showing my appreciation. When I have to trawl trough people complaining about the shit they hate, it makes it a less enjoyable experience, imho. But that's just me. As for you, you have the right to complain about whatever you want, but that same right gives us the right to be sick and tired of the bellyaching and say something about it. It also gives the artists the right to do the same. It's my opinion that the drop in artists participation in this site is due to the overwhelming amount of crying and bs that fills the board these days and to me, that's a shame. This place used to be a community. In a community you try to handle things with tact and respect, but some people find that hard to muster while sitting in front of a computer screen... I keep the hope that the forum can return to those days of community, as do many, but threads like these are not the way back, imo

To be fair to Taco, some of the comments from twitter have been exactly the sort of unintelligent moaning you can often find on DSF. It's unfair to label an entire community as moaners on the basis of some of the members of that community. It's clumsy, unsubtle, and alienates a portion of the paying fanbase - which is never a good thing, no matter how small that portion is.
If I'm honest I just think everyone's being kinda immature, and it's a little embarassing to see. But I guess peeps who don't use this forum a lot haven't got BS filters which are as well practiced as ours!
