I think the perigee can cause landtides in places that are succeptable (japan being in the pacific subduction area won't help) but most sceintists have agreed that if landtides occur, even with extreme lunar perigees, there is often less than a 1% rise in earthquakes etc..

Yeah, I think this is the biggest natural disaster I've seen on as it happens on streaming news. And we complain with a bit of flooding in the UK.

Hopefully they are well prepared for it and there isn't too much death, but it looks massive.
